Don't get me wrong, I love America and the constitution but todays federal government could not be further from what our forefathers imagined when this country was started.
What would happen if we declared ourselves independent of this corrupt government? I am not meaning starting a new country but dumping everyone in office and having the states re-elect our Congress and Senate and then president. Obviously with a different set of rules, no backing by corporations and limited backing by individuals. And there would be no more Democrats or Republicans.
Is it that crazy to think that we need to rebuild starting from scratch?
The feeling in the air is that something absolutely new is required.
Here is my proposal: create a new national capitol. Only that move will be seen as satisfying when we look back on these events in the decades to come.
But how can this small movement break free from the current oligarchy that controls us? We are doctors, lawyers, and farmers just the same as our founding fathers. Yet, the principles they created have been distorted to serve the oligarchy. These principles should be renewed.
In creating a new and better seat of government, we have the most powerful tool ever created - the internet.
I suggest Kansas City, Kansas as a location for this new seat of government. A new and faster internet is being created there. An open and more benign canvas exists at this site, without the stifling history and "baggage" found on either coast.
We don't need to hate "them", we'll just focus on creating a better "us". The energy to do this, exists right now in New York.

We do need to get rid of congress and all corrupt govenment. You are right on and I believe we all who support OWS will see just that.
You would be ineligible to ever run for public office because under U.S. law, no person who rebels against the United States may hold elective office.
Also, you would lose.
Did you not read above? Its not rebellion. I love America and the constitution, but this federal government is ridiculous. They can't accomplish anything. And it never changes. Its the same every 4 years, Republicans and Democrats fighting and the only people losing are you and I. I'm not trying to breed dissent, but rather foster growth and a chance for our nation to improve.
You think the federal government isn't accomplishing anything because you supported the wrong party. Republicans are very happy with their President and their representatives in the Congress.
So what party are you talking about? I've been a Republican since birth. Voted for Bush. Member of the college Republicans. I only recently began to see that both sides are full of shit. How can you honestly believe that everyone in office has your best interests at heart?
