Forum Post: Debate Opinion...Biden lost

Posted 12 years ago on Oct. 11, 2012, 10:59 p.m. EST by Skippy2 (485)
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

It is my opinion that VP Biden lost the debate tonight. Not as bad as Obama lost, but a loss never the less. When pressed on issues he rsorted to the angry old man persona. Body language showed frustration and impatience. Its too bad, cause "Ol'Joe" is very good when elaxed and on point.

He was red meat to the base but he didn't swing any undecideds to Obama and he needed to do that.

[-] 1 points by cJessgo (729) from Port Jervis, PA 12 years ago

He is fun but why would anyone care if he keeps his job.He and his republican buddies pushed through a anti consumer probanking bill that has helped cripple the American middle. The only differance between the two is age and style. The agenda is the same.Serve the one percent at the expense of working Americans.

Who is skippie 1 ?

[-] 0 points by Skippy2 (485) 12 years ago

Skippy1 was a brave man, killed in a gruesome mobility chair pile up at the entance to Walmart. Three Rascal drivers were distracted by an exuberant "Welcome to Walmart". I honor his memory.

"If you believe that Thursday night's vice-presidential debate was a "draw" [or a Biden loss] because Joe Biden was "rude" and "disrespectful" while Paul Ryan was obviously being disingenuous and uninformed, or that you've decided to go with "disingenuous" and "uninformed" because its manners made it more "likable," then you deserve the inadequate health-care voucher that's coming your way in 2014, as well as the letter from the Social Security Administration that your benefits will be down to 85 cents a month because International Embezzlement LLC went belly-up and took your retirement with it. Tough luck, kids. Them's the risks of an Opportunity Society."

all politicians must posture. the amerikan people demand entertainment. sincere attempts to educate are despised by fools

[-] 0 points by jtland (30) 12 years ago

I agree completely with you on his body langue, he was trying to overcompensate for the first debate

I think by this point in the political season, most people already know who they are voting for, right?

[-] 0 points by freakyfriday (179) 12 years ago

Papa Joe was certainly more surly. He kept interupting Ryan and his facial expressions were priceless.

I missed the first 20 minutes but wondered why Ryan didn't ask Biden during the Foireign Policy piece,,,,how's that Iraq pullout working for the Iraqi's who are still being killed daily by their own kind. Hell, Iraq will be the next Syria with no Assad. Don';t get me wrong, I thought Bush was wrong to go there to begin with, but we certainly didn't leave gracefully. We just cut and run after destroying their stability. Hussein wasn't a nice guy, but people weren';t getting killed every day before we intervened.

I'm not listening to arguments that "those people" are warmongers

[-] -1 points by cJessgo (729) from Port Jervis, PA 12 years ago

Military companys made out.Oil companys have also done well in Iraq.We pay the bill. The rest is just American propaganda.Or if you prefer bullshit.

[-] 0 points by yobstreet (-575) 12 years ago

How did the oil companies make out well? The leases I believe went to the Chinese and BP, with none that I am aware of to the US.

[-] -1 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 12 years ago

America lost.

People like you lost because you think Paul Ryan won even though he spoke more lies than an asshole takes a shit in a month.

And then democrats lost because they fail to see the contradiction in statements blaming the other guy and saying "You put the wars on credit" when in fact democrats also put the war on credit and voting records prove that.

[-] -1 points by alva (-442) 12 years ago

biden said ( as a senator) that he voted not to fund the wars in iraq and afghanistan. he lied. he voted for it. his vote is part of the congressional record.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 12 years ago

Please post the exact quote ( vid full context please ) and present the actual voting record that pertains to the quote.

[-] 0 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 12 years ago

Biden voted to go to war in Iraq... and continually voted to fund it. Obama actually voted YES on all the NDAA's while he was a senator as well.

Quote - "It came from this man voting to put two wars on a credit card...I was there. I voted against him." Biden voted for both the Iraq war and the Afghanistan war... and both of those wars put us in DEBT

Come on DKA.... you know this already. WARS PUT US IN DEBT.

"In 1998, Biden expressed support for the use of force against Iraq, and urged a sustained effort to "dethrone" Saddam Hussein over the long haul.[46] In 2002, as Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, he stated that Saddam Hussein was "a long term threat and a short term threat to our national security" and that United States has "no choice but to eliminate the threat".[47] He also said, "I think Saddam either has to be separated from his weapons or taken out of power."[48] Biden also supported a failed resolution authorizing military action in Iraq only after the exhaustion of diplomatic efforts,[49] Biden argued that Saddam Hussein possesses chemical and biological weapons and is seeking nuclear weapons;[50] he subsequently voted in favor of authorizing the invasion of Iraq in 2003."

All you had to do was google "Joe Biden Iraq War"

Yet people are upvoting your comment and downvoting mine... I sense democrats that aren't happy that their candidates are also warmongers. LOL

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 12 years ago

history is grim

[-] -1 points by alva (-442) 12 years ago

it was easy for me to do a search, you can do it too. biden voted for the the war.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 12 years ago

You know the quote and the vote that you are referencing - so present them - that is if they actually exist.

Also your past contributions have me thinking that you are trying to compare road-apples and oranges - again.

[-] 3 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 12 years ago

I was the one who brought up the quote. I listed it in my above comment.

Are you really trying to suggest Biden did not vote to go to war in Iraq and Afghanistan? Because he definitely did.

Do you really need the voting history? Are you really not aware that the Biden and Obama have voted in favor of war spending without anyway of actually paying for them?

Believe it or not... it's not just the republicans doing this crap.

[-] 1 points by conservatroll (187) 12 years ago

That would bother me much more than being lied to along with everyone else watching tv.

[-] 0 points by conservatroll (187) 12 years ago

But Sniden looked me right in the eye when he blamed (Bush again?) for the wars on credit cards. He looked like he was telling the truth :=)

[-] 1 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 12 years ago

I once tried to talk to my senator about the Patriot Act... he got offended and looked me straight in the eye and told me "Hey now, I voted No on the Patriot Act."

True story. He lied right to my face.

[-] 1 points by conservatroll (187) 12 years ago

They talk about this Great Recession if it fell out of the sky, like, 'Oh, my goodness, where did it come from?' It came from this man voting to put two wars on a credit card, to at the same time put a prescription drug benefit on the credit card, a trillion-dollar tax cut for the very wealthy. I was there. I voted against them. I said, no, we can't afford that," Biden said

I mean really, are the dems still trying to beat on Bush? Ryan was not in Congress when these wars started, so what was his point?

[-] 0 points by alva (-442) 12 years ago

i never said it was a quote .its a fact. part of the congressional record. biden voted to fund the wars.

[-] -1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 12 years ago

Backpedaling now? Where did you get this? Sounds like quoting to me.

Ryan got spanked like a little boy

[-] 1 points by Skippy2 (485) 12 years ago

That normally costs more.

[-] -1 points by yobstreet (-575) 12 years ago

Not happy. I was expecting more stand up from Biden.

My opinion is not based on polls. Also the point made about JFK was correct. He lowered tax rates and inceased Federal revenue which resulted in high economic growth.

The worst killed the best of the sixties. In chronological order:

Medger

John

Malcolm

Che

Martin

Bobby

I lost hope after the last two in the spring of '68. I'm starting to hope that people are awakening now. But it's a roller coaster.

We can hope that major players ( corpoRATs ) in the admin do get hosed - while also denying mittens and ayn the white house.

JFK cut top tax rates from about 90% to 70%, when we had 30% good Union/tax-paying jobs, and corporate tax = 30% revenue, and U.S. manufacturing was experiencing it's "Heyday"! Totally different world.
