Monday, October 17, 2011 Andrew Cuomo Defies Public Opinion. Refuses to Tax Millionaires. Venkman Thinks You're an AssholeAs part of the fallout of his abhorrent treatment of PEF, a poll was taken to see what New Yorkers' opinions were about Cuomo's dealings with the Union and what their thoughts were on the expiring Millionaires Tax.
Sienna release a poll that showed 70% of the New Yorkers polled did not want to see PEF members laid off. Naturally, this is good news and may indicate why Cuomo has been giving lip service to how on "a human level" he doesn't want to see people laid off. I would counter that, if he really functioned on the "human level," he would have never started the layoffs in the first place. The man is a calculating plutocrat and I'm certain polls like this enter in to his calculations -- but only to a point.
Polls are important but money rules government. Cuomo is paid off by the Koch brothers and he won't be heeding the poll's other message -- 70% of New Yorkers want the reinstatement of the Millionaires Tax! Despite that there are more millionaires in New York than there were before the Millionaire's Tax (a fact illustrated rather well by Occupy Wallstreet), Cuomo has steadfastly refused to consider stopping its expiration at the end of the year; stating "The fact that everyone wants it ... it doesn't mean that much...." There it is, in his own words. Cuomo doesn't care what the people think!
Incidentally, Cuomo has just announced that New York is heading to a $2 billion deficit next year. I wonder how better off New York would be if Cuomo wasn't in the pocket of big business? If he was honestly concerned about New York, he would extend the tax. Cuomo, however, is more interested in his political career than the 99%. So, Cuomo, how much does it cost to sell your soul to the wealthiest 1%?
Cuomo is a fucking plutocratic asshole. Posted by Einer von Vielen at 5:53 PM 1 comments
Just curious. How do you feel about these union leaders in Chicago, collecting enormous pensions for working only a day in the public service? Some are collecting $400-500 k a year and are getting public service pensions AND union pensions?
It's corruption. It doesn't matter if it's Wall st, unions, cops, government.
If you know something about it, go after it. Educate people. There is no element of corruption that is not on the table in OWS. Make it your thing and tell people about it.
I have been doing that. It is why i want the movement to focus on Washington. The people who make the laws. This overthrow of the government, and shredding our Constitution and our laws, and collapsing our economy is ridiculous. An end to corruption in Washington is a very wide spread sentiment. Not these other radical marxist ideas.
Just ignore them or converse with them ect... but don't let people spread the lie over and over that this is an anarchist/marxist movement. There are crazy Republicans that say we should nuke Iran.... it doesn't discount the whole GOP.
It's not an accident that same people keep 'asking' this over and over again. It's to simply repeat it so we spend our time doing this instead of talking about the corruption you mentioned.
