Just remember that a lot of you young folks Mom's and Dad's have retirements based on a Thrift Savings Plan or a 401k based on corporations. Many are based on the S and P 500. Corporations are how America works. If unions can give to politics why can't corporations?
Yeah I don't think unions should be able to donate to the political process either. We should limit all donations to individuals alone -- no more donations allowed to campaigns or anything political from organizations and not actual voting individuals.
100% correct. That's one of the issues on the table right now. It's one thing we've been discussing on and off on this forum and most seem to be in agreement that both corporate and union donations must stop. Contributions should come only from individuals capped at a certain amount, say $100 per person. It's the only way to get the corruption out of the election process.
I think you are corrrect sir!!
Yes I'm with you on this one. I also agree with gnomoney's cap though $100 feels really low and the cap would really need to be indexed to inflation or something.

Corporations lobby government to get welfare for outsourcing jobs from this country to one that pays people much less. If they do this then maybe they should make their products more affordable.
The last time I shopped at Target I noticed that everything was made in China and something as simple as a can opener doesn't even open cans. Bought one and thought it was faulty, happens sometimes, bought another and it didn't work for crap either. The ones that used to be made in America worked throughout my childhood.
As for the 401k plans. I am sure they are finding ways to take that money away by using "legally" bought methods. How old are your parents? They may be living with you soon.
The stuff from Chins is really getting good. Maybe some can operers don't do the job yet but a lot of things are really great. The computer, modem, router, TV and sound system are all from China. Also, I play guitar and the Guitars and mandolins from China are very well made indeed. If you go to Wal Mart, everything is from China. It is too late. If we make stuff here again, folks could not afford them. Can you imagine how much a 47 in Vizio would cost if it were made here in a union shop?
Too bad people don't get paid enough to buy quality things that are made in America. When I was young, one income could support a family of 8 and the things we bought were good quality. Now, because we all get paid less and demand boundless crap then we outsource to other countries and need two incomes to even come close to keeping our heads above water.
China subsidizes the businesses last time I checked. Maybe not all of them but there are quite a few. The USA can;t even make their own weapons without circuit boards made in China. I think we should keep a handle on some of the basic skills and not outsource everything so there are still ways to create products here, just in case. Maybe more people would have jobs if we just had a system to make sure there are still folks who know how to make critical products.
You mentioned the computer, modem, router and TV. Why do we rely on China to provide these items to us? Can we even make them anymore?
As for musical instruments, well, I am from the Pacific Northwest. People were going into the forests to cut down huge maple trees so they could get the bottom 2-3 feet of the tree because the wood was so pretty for making guitars. Maybe China doesn't mind this sort of behavior. Maybe they are harvesting the wood from some country they are secretly plundering, I don't know, but I do know that they regularly send us things laced with toxic materials. I suppose they might have a good reason for that too.
It is the corporations that operate without any controls in countries like China. Sure we should allow trade but at the same time live up to a basic principal of protecting our own people by keeping critical skills and principals alive within our collective minds.
