Not the white shirts, but the blue shirts. They say when they're off duty they will come down but have to be careful of cameras.
I heard a cop at the march today flat out tell the cluster of people I was walking near to keep trying and not to give up.
I think it's dismaying to see and hear rants against "the cops" without distinguishing the few bad apples from the mass of decent people truly 'just doing their jobs.' I know--I know!--there are exceptions to this rule, but any interaction I've had with cops on the scene, they've been polite and responsive, and even a few other besides the one mentioned above have been openly supportive. Just saying, that's the truth.
the white shirts are the chiefs, captains, lieutenants etc. I suspect that though they will not admit it, most probably support you as well.
the only way to find out for sure though is to engage them in constructive talks.
I know masks aren't really allowed, but what about face paint? That could help conceal identity without breaking the law, right? And you can paint messages on your face as well. Plus it's fun...

lol! they are middle management in the NYPD.
No... they are the people in administration, higher ups. I'm sure lots of them are sympathetic too, but they are even more scrutinized.

they have a job to do. that job requires them to be evil and always has. They sold their soul to the devil on this ages ago. you can't really make that argument to them. Its like arguing with a fundie christian. they can't hear you. It is DANGEROUS strategically to imagine that they can be compasisonate or that they will or can have a consience. You MUST proceed at every turn with a completely lucid understanding that cops are sociopaths and will never hear, never grok, never care, never listen. You must understand that they are pack psychology zombots trained to harm people and that their "Job" is doing this all the time but usually not live on film. Your just the thousandth person they have beaten up in the line of duty. Or ten thousandth. Don't take it personally- understand- they are evil- this is not an insult it is a simple patent fact. Be aware of the nature of the beast. They are socipaths and they are violent and they have no compassion, no sense of propriety, no care for justice, and don't mind criminally breaking every law.
