With the backing of corporations and banks and super pacs to the tunes of billions, the Democrats and Republicans control the election process. They lay out their own private debates. They both have passed legislation to give themselves funding from taxpayers in the next elections. They pass the laws on determining ballot entry. They're making it into a system where you either have to be a democrat or a republican to win. They built up this game of hate called divide and conquer, and they both manipulate people and say if you don't vote for me you are pretty much voting for them. If that isn't controlling the election process.... I don't know what is.
The duopoly definitely manipulates the process, yet their control is not total. The status quo only continues with the consent of the governed.
Despite widespread disgust with the two party stranglehold, the vast majority of voters will still choose to vote Rep or Dem because they believe the lie that an alternative party candidate can't win. They are complicit in their own oppression.
Agreed.
