1) Take your money out of Big Banks and put it in Credit Unions. 2) Stop paying your bills...or at least postpone payments by 1 to 2 months and then...don't pay the entire bill...!!! Don’t worry about your “Credit Rating”. Banks aren’t loaning money anyway…!!! 3) Don't buy anything other than food and immediate necessities...!!! No cars. No computers. No Appliances…Especially don’t buy anything that is not made in America…!!! It's time for the most powerful economic force in the world, the American Consumer to act and change things...NOW...!!!

We need a USA Santa Clause poster for the holidays. In the like of the "we want "U"sa campaign."

Holiday retail is a HUUUUUGE marker for retailers, producers, and the US economy.

I really doubt we can affect big electronics or nlkes, with any real noticeable effect soon. But the middle tear guys will listen. I think shoe company's would be an excellent area to pick a targetbrand. The likes of VANS/PUMA/CONVERSE. Retail sales and trends move very quickly. If we were to target one of these. Alterations in company policy and materials used would be noticeable by spring. The media will have to follow and listen as well. Which would create a huge springboard for all to be involved. We could stage run offs in parks, where we "break free from the chains" and drop off chosen brand. We then donate the shoes to another cause or country in need and proceed to boycott the brand. A brand with deep roots in the underground but has taken all its sales force in house and all its manufactoring out of country would have to adjust and offer a USA/N.A. friendly product line.

We own and control the whole fashion industry. They can not take that. We are the artist, the faces, the like buttons, the consumers. This is a huge part of the economy we can instantly affect. They depend on meeting forcast and holiday is the biggest one they have to meet.

Again it is a very fast moving industry. #OCCUPYMAGIC the biggest clothing convention in the US/World. The industry would adjust and ripple effects would be huge. We need a buy North American proclamation.

One example. Coffee. Huge distribution. Huge sales force. Sold in every store in America. Two or three days or weeks would be all you need until companies started calling their representatives in government.

If just for one week nobody stepped in a Target or Walmart or Best Buy. If just for one week nobody went to see a movie or shopped online. If just for one week we didn't buy stuff that wasn't a necessity like food and gas.

It would send a powerful message to Wall Street that WE are the engine for our economy. If your money is not in a Credit Union, take it out of your bank and move it to one. If you are unsure how to join a Credit Union search the internet for "How to Join a Credit Union".

Wall Street, Banks and Corporations will continue business-as-usual unless we make it financially painful for them to do so.

I'm so proud of OWS and everyone that protests. Thank you all.

The point of this post is to remind us all of the power we have collectively. If we boycott places and/or services, targeting particularly egregious practices and products, we have power. But, if we do any of the things suggested above, two things are necessary: 1) Must have numbers; 2) Must issue Demand, Statement first to Media and those affected otherwise point will be missed. Logical target is Wall Street, Banks, etc. We can focus on practices of either but we need a clear focus. For example, target major banks: B of A, Chase, Wells Fargo, etc. and particularly egregious, greedy practices. Need to get everybody on board OWC groups, Moveon.org, Unions, etc. There is power in Numbers and that is crucial. A loosely organized suggestion with no public announcement is ineffectual.

Oh yea Potts...I fully understand what I'm saying...!!!

This would literally shut down the US economy....then we could begin talking about change...!!!

The alternative...is things stay the same...so WTF do you want ?

Protesting just for the effect of making noise is useless...!!!

thats a great way to get us back into a recession

[-] 1 points by rbe (687) 13 years ago

We've never came out of a recession.

[-] 1 points by Pottsandahalf (141) 13 years ago

We've been out of recession since 2009- dont put us back into one and go buy stuff!!

(by the way, our economy grew by almost 3% last year; recessions tend to have growth figures of less than 1%)

[-] 1 points by rbe (687) 13 years ago

I don't buy that.

[-] 1 points by Pottsandahalf (141) 13 years ago

Dont believe me go look it up.

[-] 1 points by rbe (687) 13 years ago

I mean I don't buy the way we determine when we're in a recession or not. The formulas are outdated.

[-] 1 points by Pottsandahalf (141) 13 years ago

A recession is defined as having slow growth for at least three straight quarters. Thats the definition of the word recession. If you want to argue about recessions then use the correct definition of the word

[-] 1 points by rbe (687) 13 years ago

There is no fixed definition for the word recession. Some economists use GDP, others user broader qualifications. http://recession.org/definition

[-] 1 points by cmt (1195) from Tolland, CT 13 years ago

Economists go by GDP so no more recession, technically. That does not mean that the economy is healthy, to say the least.

[-] 1 points by Pottsandahalf (141) 13 years ago

I do agree there; we need to create more value, and get the chronically unemployed people back to work

[-] 1 points by rbe (687) 13 years ago

How can we get the chronically unemployed back to work when there's no real legitimate need for new human labor?

[-] 1 points by Pottsandahalf (141) 13 years ago

Its not labor that produces value; its the product of the human mind. A new idea, when properly executed, drives economic growth. Machines can out-produce a human being all day long, but they dont produce new growth. New growth is only produced through using your noodle

I'm set...so don't worry about me oldman...and besides...my comment wasn't a personal attack on anyone...so why make it your point to personally attack me ?

Please use credit unions because one person one share in the credit union. Also try to buy from cooperatives like ocean spray. co-ops are good because one person can not control it again one person one share, the 1% could not be that if most all companies were cooperatives, start buying, working, and banking with cooperatives and credit unions, if most of us do the power of the 1% will shrink. Please pass this message on!

[-] 1 points by ConsumerOne (4) from Haysville, KS 13 years ago

Perspective...I have no debts because I pay all my bills on time.

That is going to end...I'm going to start delaying everything by a month or two.

I'm closing my last big bank account (BofA) today and putting all my money in credit unions.

So...no...I have pills to pay...and now...I'm changing my payment patterns...and I do understand the implications of what I'm suggesting...it can be a huge shock and it needs to be.

[-] 1 points by OldmanBill (3) 13 years ago

If you follow your own advice you won't have any debts for a long time because no one in their right mind would lend you a thin dime. Good luck with your future.

This sounds great. For those of us who don't know where to buy purely American, can someone provide us with a link for American-made clothing and shoes, and other necessary products?
