would someone please be able to tell me who is actually making up these rules? who does it offend exactly to say many Christmas and after 200 years why has it become an issue all of a sudden?
Scout, go back and read the article.
They can "say" Merry Christmas at any time. They just cannot send it out on paper paid for with public cash. Why? Because the odds are that there are people that are not Christian that will get it and the message will be that Christianity is the state religion. It is not. Contrary to what some people say, freedom of religion IS freedom from religion.
I am an atheist and I have no problem with people saying merry Christmas, God bless you, Christmas trees, Buddhas, crescents, menorahs.
The first amendments is about freedom of religion not freedom from religion.
the all stood up and sand god bless america on 911
scary day for an atheist
Christianity, Christmas, etc have all been under attack ever since the Moooslim comrade obummer has been in office. If he goes to a University to make a speech or something then the speech has to be where there is no crosses in site. Obama is pure evil trash
Although I share in your distaste of Barry Obamarx, I must say Christianity has been under attack since well before he took office. Some of that attack is justified- public funds used for celebration and the incorporations of "values" into our legal system- and some is just nonsense- what people say and what PRIVATE institutions choose to do.
Yes I did notice that but now it seems like Christianity is under attack like I have never seen before
I was Catholic, but sometime in my twenties, I became enlightened and realized ALL formal religion is a farce to control the minds and bodies of people through FEAR. But I also see the value of it considering what would happen if suddenly everyone lost that fear of an eternal hellfire. I do understand people against Christianity in government. But many of these people just have too much time on their hands and need a "cause". If there is a small budget for Christmas celebration in small government jurisdictions I have no problem with it if it is bringing joy to most people. These people with a "cause", it seems, just resent everything. They crave attention and unfortunately are not putting all that effort into something positive. I still say Merry Christmas. I celebrate it in a secular fashion, mostly to bring the joy of presents to my children. Was there a Jesus Christ? I am sure there was. There is too much evidence. The stories of his "accomplishments" are quite far-fetched, but I believe he was a rebel who promoted love and peace among people at a very tumultuous time in history. If people want to praise THAT, I see it as a positive and wish them well.
Complete rubbish. Who does this come from? Muslims for example are quite happy to say "Merry Christmas". Americans in New York say "Happy Holidays", but this is a New York tradition. I have lived in the UK, Switzerland and Australia a lot. In all these places, they never say "Happy Holdiays".
OWS wins. They hate Christmas!
What would happen if Ron Lawl fucked Michele Bachmann and knocked her up?
Cool. No Merry Christmas. That's because Christianity is a dirty, blood sucking, sadomasochistic cult that pimps kids to pedophile priests and ministers.
in the case let's abandon everything to do with the season including the shopping and consumerism! That would really help the US economy wouldn't it?
