Forum Post: Clear separation of system of commerce & system of government?

Should we rely on a system of commerce (capitalism in this case) as the only system of managing human civilization?

Should people be homeless or go without food or health care until we can print more paper with numbers on it and find a way, within a capitalist system, to get it to them?

Are we not allowed to agree to provide food, shelter, education and health care to people in exchange for services to the same system that delivers these goods to them?

What exactly is wrong with that? Can capitalism (or a market system) be an option for those that want to pursue more from life instead of a system that they must subject themselves to for mere survival?

I dare any and all to watch http://www.hulu.com/watch/151119/the-end-of-poverty

and claim to know anything, would love to hear from you all.

Really want to know what kind of humans we have in this world. Please also mention if you believe in any type of God and what you believe your god's response would be on us and your perspective.

Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's.

While you live in this world, you have to play by the rules of this world, but never go against the rules of God.

Capitalism combined with a compassionate body politic is our best shot for now. We already have welfare, food stamps, medicaid, medicare, and vast numbers of programs that send single moms and dads to college, give disabled veterans and minorities preferential treatment, the list goes on and on. And all able bodied people are expected to work to pay for it. Is there anything else you want?

Once we have free unlimited energy and resources, everyone can have everything they want without harming anyone else, that kind of socialism is Utopia. The Government will only be around to settle skirmishes when two people want to build a mansion on the same spot.

I watched it. And Here I Go. Capitalism combined with a compassionate body politic is our best shot for now.

Yes, there are corrupt governments that use their positions to gain personal wealth and destroy their own country. Happens everywhere to some extent. But with a decent government and limited corporate influence in government, all the countries in the video would be much better off, and that's WITH CAPITALISM!

Dare me all you want. The conditions these people's governments have created is horrible. But that doesn't change the fact that the problem is corrupt governments, not capitalism.

Don't need to "print money" to have people have goods - that really shows a weird mis-identification of the mechanisms of trade.

Agreed, so perhaps you would consider our group's proposal of an alternative online direct democracy of government and business at http://getsatisfaction.com/americanselect/topics/strategically_weighted_policies_organizational_operating_structures_tactical_investment_procedures_as_of_11_6_2011 , for this is a small-business-bottom-up approach, not today's big-business-top-down approach, so if agreed, join our group's 20 members committed to that plan at http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/StrategicInternationalSystems/

Here is a complete explanation of why revolutionary government by consensus is needed:
