Forum Post: Changes to the economic structure of business in the United States, to limit corporate power

Raise the minimum wage. This would give much needed buying power to the people.

Change the statute requiring corporations to put profit ahead of all other competing interests to putting people's economic security ahead of profit. So it would state, a corporation is required to put people's well-being and then profit ahead of all other competing interests.

Break apart large corporations into smaller businesses in order to stop price fixing and collusion amongst big business. In essence, level the playing field for small business.

End the ability of a business to own another business, thus drastically reducing the size of corporations.

The minimum wage destroys jobs. It prevents young people from entering the job market. It also raises prices. So the raise you propose is a wash.

You want real change? You want prosperity and real jobs? Get government out of the business of regulating the economy. End crony capitalism.

Why don't you explain why I am wrong? Explain how a minimum wage is good. I'm not joking either.

Minimum wage does not destroy jobs or prevent younger people from entering the job market. The part you did get correct is that it lowers prices. It does but it does it at your expense, not mine.

It raises prices, not lowers them. When prices rise then your income buys less.

As the minimum wage goes up, employers have to weigh the benefits of hiring unskilled workers versus experienced ones. When forced to pay a minimum wage who do you think the employer will choose? This is especially true in times of high unemployment. Look at unemployment rates today. You will see teenagers are among the highest.

Minimum wage is relatively bad, the 1% is used to their bloated margins they would just fuck the labor force further so as not to cut into profits.

Speculation tax and/or higher capital gains could help, you really need a shift in the market to somehow focus away from short term profits. Long term focus would require focusing on people to a higher degree.

If you raise minimum wage then businesses will just compensate by raising prices
