Quite frankly, if this thing takes off it would be rather silly for him to ignore us. The man most likely is (or at least could be) an actual progressive if Congress gave him half a chance. He slipped up at several points and let the banks get over, and the result of that is an entire political party devoted into making him a one-term president. I'd think he's learned his lesson after that. That said, backing us right now is a gamble; if he does and something goes wrong on our end he could lose the election. On the other hand, if this goes right we could make the difference between President Obama and President Perry.

The independents are pretty much torn now; they may not like Obama much but I doubt they have the stomach for Rick Perry either. If he's going to win he needs to get back to the base that put him in office four years ago, and he's already beginning to do that. Common sense dictates that if we get enough people on our side he'd take an interest, and if he thought we could put him back in office he might go back there with our goals in his head. It wouldn't be perfect, but it would be a start.

A start is a good idea. The more interest we get from people in positions of power gives this movement credibility. They don't have to agree with us, just acknowledge us. Then we either need to elect a spokesperson (which I do not like) or we need to find a way where we can all vote on our choices - a way in which our votes will really count!!!

Obama admin is creating laws that inflame the issues you complain about.

Why do you want recognition from an economical retard. His policies have gravely damaged our economy.

STUPID.

This is exactly why we are here demanding a change. Our Voices and opinions should count. Our votes should make a difference. This might not have been possible in the past - it is now!

No we don't want any party attaching itself to this movement. This is by the people for the people. Politicians are at the root of the problem and only contradict the cause.

To me we the 99%ers are those that have no voice in this country. It doesn't matter if you are a Republican, Independent, Democrat, Tea Partier, believe in Socialism or Capitalism. Contrary to what we believe none of us actually has a voice in this country. We have been taught to believe that if we elect our respective parties into power that our goals and ideas will be done. Well guess what people, it won’t. The only people in this country with a voice are the 1%ers and they have no allegiance to any specific political party!

Who are the 1%ers you may ask? Well I say they are the large corporations and special interest groups who TRULY run this country. They are the groups of individuals who spend millions upon millions of dollars each year to convince YOUR congressman, YOUR senator, and YOUR President to do what best suits them regardless as to what's in the best interest of the rest of the 99% of this country.

Think about it, the root of every problem we face as a country regardless as to political beliefs boils down to who's willing to pay the most money to see their agenda done. So until we fix this system of legalized BRIBERY also known as lobbying this country will never ever be the place we dreamed that it could be.

Oh and for those of you who don't believe me, ask yourself when was the last time you tracked down your congressman or senator in the capital between meetings and offered up a large sum of money in order to see a piece of legislation passed that best interested you?

The people need a voice in government. It is clear we can not depend on our political officials to do what is best for the country and for our world. At the very least, we need another branch to the government. Where each voice can be heard and every vote counts. Where bills contain only what they are about and un-related riders are not allowed. With our current technology this is now possible! Let's make it happen.

I agree with this.... What do you suggest for fixing the system?
