Why did socialism become a dirty word? It's another manifestation of humans seeking a way to stay civilized and to advance as a race together. The atrocities in the past that are attached to socialism had nothing to do with socialism. They had only to do with minority groups in power seeking to obtain all power. Really no different than what's going on now with our precious capitolism.

I agree and wish more people would understand this. Every system looks good on paper. In the real world, every system is subject to corruption. In the entire history of mankind, we have not yet been able to keep a system free of corruption.

So instead of arguing how one system or another could solve all our problems and ensure everyone lives in abundance, I submit it would be more productive to focus on eliminating corruption in our current system. We can then engage in a discussion about whether or not we wish to keep our current system or move towards another. It's not a matter of choosing the 'right' system. It's a matter of dealing with human nature.

“Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.” - Winston Churchil

Inevitably, socialism entrusts that those in power have the clairvoyance to both manage the private sector and provide everyone with equitably ACCEPTABLE facilities.

Socialism, in all of its past iterations, has seen party members enjoy their wealth in exclusivity, much to the disenfranchisement of the entire people the system therein oppresses. Socialism is a good idea in theory, but fails when weighed with human nature.

It's tragic how people see greed in capitalism, when the system of socialism inevitably fosters greed in so malevolent and blatant a way as it has in any country that has attempted to adopt it.
