Will die-hard capitalists ever learn that unchecked Capitalism cannibalizes itself and leaves them vulnerable to those who have nothing to lose?

Technically, Capitalism without the influence of lobby in government would work great, as long as there was ALSO a free press. Huge corporations would take huge falls when they screwed up. We live in a Fascist state, not capitalist.

I hope so.

I wonder if there were peasants who were die-hard feudalists, or slaves that were die hard slave-economists...

anything and anyone unchecked will eventually destroy itself in a glut of self-indulgence that destroys the pillars that actually support its very existence... it's like the fast food junkie that dies of a heart attack.... but then again to not be able to recognize that is simply called "ego-centrism"

that's why I say no more -ism swapping, focus on -isms only promotes "inside the box" thinking, that will do you no good, so just keep the capitalism, just put it in check, like you said. Capitalism, like any -ism, works just fine if kept in check. if we will ever learn that this is what we need to do....

It can only do that when the system of law in place does not act to protect rights. Capitalism depends on a just legal framework (just as any system does) to function the best. When those with the monopoly on force (government) make favors to anyone any system breaks down. Capitalism is self monitoring as it depends on convincing people to engage - when governmental force is used to interfere in this peaceful process of cooperation we get the economic policies defined in fascism - the marriage of the corporate and the state.

Reminds me of a movie I saw recently where the entire population were vampires and slowly running out of blood to drink...the hosts were almost gone!
