What good will that do if they are unwilling to nail the sock puppets?

so many of the top rated comments are hidden in -4 threads.

they might as well not have top rated comments now.

Ha! Look at my original comment at the bottom. It's marching down the ratings already.

Amen. I have a post that keeps disappearing or rather just listing seven commenters' names all with -4 or less ratings, which causes the discussions not to be immediately visible.

Even this comment by me on ratings was given a -5 rating: "The point system has been misused to make this post almost disappear. All 1st level comments were given -4 or worse points, whether pro this post or anti. This makes the discussion disappear unless one clicks on the + symbol." http://occupywallst.org/forum/bloomberg-nycs-own-deng-xiaoping/

The board is patrolled by paid trolls (I hope this is common knowledge), this feature plays into their hands.

Why not just ask mods to remove people who do not have similar thoughts? That's basically what you're crying about.

That isn't what it is about and you know this.

Doh.. I can't find the like button ;-) ...but it does also give people the right to second an opinion (which is quite handy for those on limited bandwidth and battery power).

...and most of the trolls are just as vocal with their comments and don't tend to worry about their battery going down before they can get their 'point across'.
