Forum Post: Can we fix the BIG and the SMALL problems (that lead to BIG problems)

While I 110% support Campaign Finance Reform, Fair Taxes, prosecution of the "Banksters" and the many other serious issues being presented at Occupy Wall Street I would like to ask that we not ignore the everyday injustices that directly effect so many people. Below are only SOME EXAMPLES of what I mean:

Example #1: "Unaffordable Justice": In many cities it costs more to fight (for instance) a parking ticket than it costs to pay the fine. While this item may seem trivial as a single issue; it is the collective sum of these TYPES of injustices that breed passiveness. (If you lose either-way, then why fight it?)

Example #2: "Self Important, Above the Law Government": In my city an (illegal) ordnance was passed that made it illegal to drive a car while using a cell phone. No matter how you feel about that issue; The ordnance made an exclusion for Police Officers that cited they needed to be able to use a cell-phone while driving as part of their job. However, last time I checked Police Officers are human and subject to the same "distractions" that people of other professions are. But for some reason Government too often feels like it is the only thing contributing to society, and as-such, often passes laws like this one that apply to everyone EXCEPT the some part of government they assume is doing something more important than the rest of us.

Side note: to spite the fact that the City Council passed an ordnance they knew was illegal, and it was enforced for a short time, and 90+ people were fined as a result; when it was eventually overturned by a judge NOTHING happened to those council members who passed it. No fines, no punishment, no nothing.

Example #3: "Rewarding Bad Behavior": All too often men are deceived into fathering a child. (Take note: If the man was "deceived" he was clearly taking precautions to NOT father a child) In these cases not only is the obviously untrustworthy mother not punished for her deception, but is, in-a-way, rewarded with child support. (I could go on but I realize what a touchy subject this is)

I honestly have no idea how to address these, and the NUMEROUS similar injustices that happen daily, other than on an individual level. But until these types of injustices are recognized and properly dealt with I believe our government will continue to breed more injustice and passiveness towards it. I feel this passiveness is what allows these larger issues to become so big and difficult to untangle.

There are root systematic imbalances and problems which need to be addressed. I would not support a fickle protest activity which loses sight of it's goals every time another problem arises. If there is a significant momentum it is more efficient and powerful to push that through to it's logical conclusion.
