During the Civil Rights Movement we learned that the best way to bring about social change is through the courts. We as individuals do not have the power to influence the legislative branch, and certainly not the executive branch, so how do we bring about change? Through civil disobedience. We break laws that we feel are unjust. But how can we apply this to the Occupy movement? The only one that has occurred to me is if we collectively decide to not pay our taxes. Corporations find ways to get away without paying taxes, so why should we as individuals pay ours?
Vote. or Run for office. I know but that was then... it's changing now, be the change. https://sites.google.com/site/the99percentdeclaration/
Enough of the False Flag bullshit already.
Look, the way to bring about change is to be a part of your community. It means showing up at the kid's school meetings, talking to people and being friendly. It might mean visiting a church even if you aren't that religious. If you are out of work, it could mean donating some time to charitable organizations like food pantries, thrift stores, community projects. And it means listening to people and learning what is near to their hearts and understanding them and accepting them. In a very real way it means asking the question, how can we all get along to get things done? Lots of people are short on money but boycotts are doable. How can you be called a lazy bum if you are out in the community donating your time? Pay the taxes for now, you don't want to look like a slacker do you?
