Forum Post: Bloomberg's order to remove OWS' generators was simply a pretext to make life more difficult for the protesters at Zucotti Park

As a retired professional Firefighter (disabled) I can say that generators when used properly are safer than most any other type of alternative means of temporary power sources. Every community in America has Fire Departments that teach emergency preparedness. At the core of those teachings is the proper use of generators in the event of loss of power during natural disasters. What Bloomberg did was simply unfair, unreasonable and a tactic that is no more than a lie hidden under the disguise of "Public Safety." The generators should be returned post-haste if Bloomberg has any integrity at all, and no further action taken against their use in open air spaces by OWS.
So I suppose the millions of American households and others in America who rely on generators should just chuck them out because they are so "Dangerous?"
occupy Des Moines was just allowed by the city / fire dept to use these heaters! OWS you may want to check this out: http://www.mrheater.com/ProductFamily.aspx?catid=41
Bloomberg's actions belie his supposed loyalty to the 1st Amendment. Permits were supposed to be almost automatic, needed merely for coordination purposes. He has granted them at his discretion. The same with megaphones, those causes he supports gets them, those he doesn't, don't. Of course he is looking for any excuse to push OWS out (or make everyone miserable to point of giving up (though health can't be compromised)).
Gotta agree with you there...hairless...
Yeah, I think almost everyone realizes they were taken mainly to discourage the protests. And I think everyone knew it was going to happen. Seriously, was anyone surprised?
The only things baffling about this are Occupy's utter unpreparedness for it, and it's utter inability to respond quickly. Three cheers for the anarcho-consensus paradigm.
Well, you are welcome to disagree. But I have been to the Park. During my active duty I was also credentialed to conduct Fire Inspections. I saw nothing there that caused me any great concern. Plenty of fire extinguishers, they were obviously being monitored and maintained. By the way, what credentials are you drawing upon?
Please Call Billionaire Mayor Bloomberg that you disagree with his false pretext to crush the 99%.
