Corruption And Homeless Shelter Rejections? Posted on November 10, 2011 by admin Since Mayor Michael “Richie Rich” Bloomberg has assumed office our homeless population has almost doubled, and police corruption has gone through the roof. I guess we can’t directly blame the mayor for the bank rip-offs, (although he is their biggest cheerleader). But when the excrement hit the fan thousands of New Yorkers lost their jobs and their homes. It is the city’s contention that most of the homeless are addictive miscreants. I am not so sure about that statistic. At the least maybe some of our wandering nomads got deeper into their habits when facing a life of despair. Can you blame them? If you had to go one more day without a shower, and without a few meals, wouldn’t it be easier to drown your sorrows? Wouldn’t the thought of sleeping on a park bench, (unless you get kicked out at curfew time), make you want to numb your senses?
But the new Bloomberg administration proposal to require homeless shelter applicants to document every place they slept in the last year is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard. I can just see it now “….let’s see, I rode the subway all night last night….or was that the night before? What day is it? Maybe it was the Staten Island Ferry Terminal, or it could have been Grand Central Station. I remember I was lucky that night, I found a half-eaten bagel.” Let’s get real here. This is the first stage in the working class genocide. First they cut the homeless out of the mix, then the elderly will be cut loose with Medicare and Social Security downgrades, (the pension plans have already been pillaged into nothingness by the corporate financial “wizards”). Next we have the denigration of work itself, with a proliferation of low-paying, benefit-free, part-time, temporary, garbage employment that doesn’t even pay the bills at home, if you are “lucky” enough to get it. Our politicians, from both parties, still hold to the “free market” mantra, and the art of “budget balancing” on the backs of the poor and the disappearing middle class goes forward with every declaration from the Congressional “Super Committee”.
Bloomberg has no conscience, lies about crime statistics.
Bloomberg needs to go. What would it take to get that p.o.s. out of office?
a revolution?
Good answer! ;-) ;-)
