Forum Post: Black Friday riots

I think the frenzy shopping on Black Friday in the stores makes us look like a sorry bunch of Americans. We either spend all our dispensable income or put out on credit cards on this 700 billion dollar day of consumerism. Most of the great deals that get these massive crowds off the couch are junk products guaranteed to break down within a few months of use. It's sad to see people saving all their money just to get suckered in one day by the bait and switch (raising prices just a few months before lowering for discounts). The embarrassing images of Americans spraying pepper spray, getting stampeded and fighting over crappy products must look pretty pathetic to the rest of the world.

Americans must look pretty pathetic to the rest of the world?

Insatiable, incoherent and insane would probably be more accurate.

What's the point of having a democracy if people are just going to obey the television like a bunch of drones. <_<

I saw a video of shoppers at a Wal-Mart in Texas practically trampling over each other to get some $2 waffle irons.

It's an interesting contrast to the Soviet Union. Apparently in the USSR the Russians would line up waiting for toilet paper. In the USA, shoppers will stampede over each other to get some cheap waffle irons.

As a Canadian....yes you do.

Those images look pretty pathetic to many of us Americans as well. I've never once went shopping on Black Friday and never will. Hopefully, someday, this country will pull its collective head out of its ass.

I somehow think not, you kinda stink on ice and so does your mathematical skills, perhaps this is why you all do not have jobs LOL Please stop deleting my post, this is America and this is my right to FREE speech. Is it your practice to stifle one's right to an opinion? MIC CHECK: You are Losing Steam.

I'm sure they look pathetic. But a lot of Americans don't participate in this Jewish holiday.
