I know the banks are prime target right now, but BIG OIL is just as guilty and responsible and have many politicians on their payrolls as well. Shell, Exxon/Mobil and other big oil companies.....just a reminder that they need to be brought under control once and for all. They have quite literally stopped all major attempts at fixing our nation's fuel issues, hidden technologies that increase gas mileage of vehicles by %1000 or greater, and thwarted all attempts at finding more reliable and renewable sources of energy, as well as just being plain !#@$ing greedy.
Big Oil, as well as the car companies are two of the largest problems right now. They're primarily holding our economy back- keeping us from achieving an evolutionary step in developing green technologies and spawning a new wave of jobs. The government isn't helping at all, because they're supporting both of these entities into the ground. It killed me when they chose to let GM live, when there are startups like Tesla which are pushing the limit with environmental technologies.
We need to push our government really hard to start taxing big oil more- in California, they're allowed to drill offshore for...free. Yep, free. We also need to start pushing our government to support small companies like Tesla, because companies like that are actually participating in the "innovation" that our capitalist overlords constantly brag about when they give credence to this country.
We have a 17% gas tax on every cent of gasoline you purchase. That's 0.17 cents per gallon if the gallon is $1.00. But if that gallon is $4.00 that is 0.68 cents per gallon. When the price of fuel goes up so do the dollars going to our Govt, plus the fuel companies and we get to pay for it. Fuel needs to be as regulated price wise as other energy sources like electricity. But right now the fuel companies are having to do business elsewhere and use foreign workers in other countries to get that fuel. Because of this administration drilling standards all those jobs and hundred of billions of dalliers are being funneled into foreign countries instead of right here at home. A lot can be changed just by allowing them to start production here again.
We can't start beating on big oil! The average person is being squeezed by gas prices at the pump and they know our kind of socialist controls are the problem. If we mouth off too much about big oil, people will abandon us in droves.
End lobbyist, put cap on the gifts/donations (corporations and its employees can only donate a limited amount), and end corporate employees’ (current and former) running for positions in public offices.
