Beware of the POLITICS of unions taking control of this occupation. This is way beyond unions. Still, union members are encouraged to participate with all of their brothers and sisters of the 99%.
There is nothing wrong with unions/union workers getting involved. They have every reason to be as fed up, if not more, as anyone else. Just because they are showing their support doesn't mean they want to "take it over". You can't always be looking at everything and everyone as the enemy.
You misunderstood then, union members are encouraged to be involved as they are our brothers and sisters of the 99%, but the politics and hidden agendas of unions are not welcome.
What do you see as their "hidden agendas"?
Do you believe that unions are free from corruption in all forms?
Absolutely not. I have been a union officer and at their worst unions are in business to perpetuate themselves. However, just because they can be corrupted or abused does not negate the positive aspects of well run unions. Without a unions we would not have a 40 hour work week, overtime, meal and bathroom breaks, OSHA, etc. No other type of organization has done more for holding back corporate greed over the past century than unions.
Which is exactly why you, the members who embody those great things that unions do, are more than welcome as individuals. Remember though, you are first a member of a different type of union, the 99%, which consists of far more people then any labor union.
First, I am a member of the 100% of the human race. Even the 1% has some intrinsic value, lol.
I am no longer a member of a union, I work in the private sector in a management position, and I have a front row seat for why unions are still very necessary in places.
I like your style! You are right. First we are all members off the 100%! I never intended for this message to be anti-union members. It is a message of anti-corruption.
No, but is anything free from corruption?
Nope probably not, so lets just keep that bit of corruption out of our protest.
You better beware of union politics. Richard Trumpka is licking his chops!
Pretty much everyone on here agrees not to let any political figures co-opt this, unions included because unions are political too. Not sure what the leaders down there are thinking. I would accept support and donations from anyone, but silent support.
Too true. Already I read that Unions are donating office space and "enough food for the whole week" in NY.
