According to one site on the internet (google Bank Transfer Day - November 5, 2011 ):

"Together we can ensure that these banking institutions will ALWAYS remember the 5th of November!! If the 99% removes our funds from the major banking institutions to non-profit credit unions on or by this date, we will send a clear message to the 1% that conscious consumers won't support companies with unethical business practices.

• Research your local credit union options • Open an account with the one that best suits your needs • Cancel all automatic withdrawals & deposits • Transfer your funds to the new account • Follow your bank's procedures to close your account before 11/05

It's nice to have one day for symbolic purposes, but this should be an ongoing movement. If you are part of the 99%, you should not have a single dollar in Citibank, JP Morgan Chase, or Bank of America. Perhaps a few others should be added to the list, but those are the Big 3.

Bank Transfer Day also can correlate with the New York Stamp Act "Riot" (they leveled a home) of Nov. 1, 1765. Boston had one in September and New Yorker's who were used to a rowdy time on Pope's Day rose up a few months later. (this Boston - New York thing goes way back before baseball). I think we must keep this non-violent but take a stand that has consequences in some time honored way --boycotting , non-importatioon(to hit England back in our origin), not vacating when they say vacate . Let's keep this moving forward. If we have looked down the road and have seen impoverishment and lack of representation, we want redress. This tranfer day becomes a symbolic but important action....

Great Point. Still I suppose its good to keep them juggling, to cover their tracks. Personally I only keep enough in the bank to cover my bills. nothing more. Which is all I have anyway.

While I applaud the spirit of Bank Transfer Day, it's not going to work for following reasons:

First, Credit Unions are not organized as I have outlined at http://getsatisfaction.com/americanselect/topics/on_strategically_weighted_policies_organizational_operating_structures_tactical_investment_procedures-448eo into 48 Business Investment Groups where the Bottom 90% of Workers PERSONALLY decide Business Loans, and related Individual Business Proposals, according to their Occupation & Generation.

Second, Credit Unions DON'T pass through ALL the Interest Income; the vast majority of their Interest Income gets siphoned off to the 10% just like at any other Commercial Bank today, for it's yet another scam designed to benefit the 1%, the true owner of the Credit Union. Consequently, again, the Bottom 99% of Workers have no choice but to create their own Banks (or Credit Unions) as I have described in the link above IF they want liberty and justice for all.
