A woman from Vinton County, Ohio, wants her belongings back after a bank mistakenly began to repossess her house while she was out of town, 10TV News reports.

After spending two weeks away, Kate Barnett returned home to find that the First National Bank of Wellston had foreclosed on her house, even though she had no affiliation with the bank.

“They repossessed my house on accident, thinking it was the house across the street,” Barnett told 10TV News. “They told me that the GPS led them to my house. My grass hadn’t been mowed and they just assumed.”

Barnett said her key no longer worked and she had to climb through the window to get inside, where she discovered that many of her possessions had been hauled away.

According to Barnett, she presented the bank’s president with an $18,000 estimate to replace the lost items, but he refused to pay. “He got very firm with me and said, ‘We’re not paying you retail here, that’s just the way it is,’ ” she recalled. “I did not tell them to come in my house and make me an offer. They took my stuff and I want it back.”

No one from the bank would go on camera with 10TV News, but a vice president told the network that they are trying to “come to terms” with Barnett and “hope to have things resolved very soon.” However, Barnett denies this.

“They make it sound like I’m trying to rip off the bank,” said Barnett. “All I want is my stuff back.”

Banker should be charged with breaking and entering, burglar, etc.

The incident was bad enough, but the arrogance of the banker afterwards says so much.

I think that the proper wording is that the bank was stealing her home. Breaking and entering and theft. Burglarly, Lock those bitches up.

Bankers have no shame yet they have so much to be ashamed of.

I would definitely press charges against whomever entered my house. She should just sue. While the media spouts how wonderful the economy is (despite the Sunday paper having less than one page of jobs), the reality is that nothing has changes and banks are still animals. Hope that she gets everything back.

Who approved the documents needed to process the foreclosure? Somewhere are documents that have to be signed and then processed and approved.

If the bank has errors and omissions insurance, the lady should file a claim. If the bank does not have errors and omissions insurance, there should be a law requiring them to carry it.

But, we have laws when you take somebodies shit. If you go into someone's house, uninvited, it's called breaking and entering. If you take their stuff, it's called burglary. If the stuff is damaged in any way, it's called destruction of property. Why do banks need a special set of laws? Who the hell do these little clowns think they are?

You are talking about "Paper violence". It's not just about printing money out of thin air that is the problem. It's just as bad that they can put something on a piece of paper, true or otherwise, and then it is vigilantly enforced by law enforcement.

No, I'm telling you that her house was burglarized.
