Yea. She was also on Social Security & Medicare at the end of her life because she couldn't afford treament for her smoking-inflicted lung cancer.

I kind of thought that basing the protagonists of her first writings on a man that kidnapped a little girl, chopped up her body and removed her major organs, collected ransom from her parents, and returned the corpse was a lot stranger.
