Shut down the stock exchange? Ban money in politics?
Both parties would reject these ideas immediately including Obama. Whatever the real demands are when they come out, they can not be so revolutionary unless you attempt to overthrow the federal government.
Get money out of government, no money, gift, etc, lobbying, and that is very achievable. The government itself was discussing this not that many years ago, 8,10,,,and it NEEDS to be done. Campaign finance reform is also achievable, quit easily if the will is there. The stock market needs tight regulation and to be watched like a hawk, It may take away some of the profits from the illegal practices they are now getting away with,,,and is that a bad thing?
Publicly funded elections would be a home-run for OWS... but improbable. Don't think anyone is trying to "ban money from politics", we just want the ability to compete against the influence of companies with billions of dollars at their disposal.
Shut down the stock exchange? You realize other countries will still have stock exchanges? We dont own the world. If we do these things just in the US, we will go backward by being extremely handicapped when it comes to trade. So yes, shutting down the stock exchange is too big a request.
Ghandi took a country away from the British Empire. America took the colonies from Britain and successfully defended them again shortly thereafter.
We can't do everything, but we must get government back or there is no hope for anything else. Our country is badly broken and is near destroyed. Its gut-check time. do we do this or quit? 'Cause if we don't do this we will be stopped cold.
banning money in politics is the only way to take the government back for the people, I don't believe it's too big to accomplish at all.... That's part of the problem, the vast majority believe things are too big to accomplish because we have allowed the government to control us rather than the way it was intended to be.
I think the bigger the demands the better. Should go for the family food gardens. Check it out: http://occupywallst.org/forum/family-food-gardens-this-is-the-solution
