Hello,
My name is Matt Holck
I have been a dishwasher, a janitor and food prepper for a Bistro, a Cafe and a Pizzeria in my life for a combined 3 years of experience. Taking cue from the dish machine and drying cycles, I have become an expert at multi-tasking efficiency doing one task while waiting on another. I work to clear the dirty dish area to be ready for any sudden rush or possible demand that requires attention away from my post. I organize the dishes for optimum machine loading and return them to their stations without disturbing the actions of the other employees. I am proud of my work and always strive to maintain a clean station. When I am caught up with the workload, I search for areas that need cleaning in the restaurant.
For three years at the bay front downtown, I rode a geared rickshaw searching for smiles to keep my spirit light. I glided slowly along stream of tourists and regulars that walked. I offered rides in my peddled cab to the Sea of India or perhaps the Fish Market. As they rode behind me, I'd asked them where they're from or what they are doing. I'd listen for connections to my own experiences to chime them through a conversation.
Levity and utility were my selling points and it would make me happy if they were again.

Education
MS physics with emphasis in optics, 1998 San Diego State University Physics courses: atomic, classical mechanic, continuous mechanics, computer modeling for physic, electro-magnetism, optics (laser and Fourier), quantum and thermodynamics.
Computer Experience I automated an electro-optics laboratory. I wrote the “Octopus” program. The Octopus can run any of up to 18 different laboratory instruments simultaneously. Other team members use this program to examine MEMS devices. I responded quickly to any bugs that surfaced, and I returned fixes and explanations with in 3 hours. I encouraged feedback to further clarify Graphical User Interfaces. A computer screen front panel GUI controls the “Octopus”. While the program is running, the user may choose instruments to configure and sweep. Individual GUIs, panels and set for each possible instrument. Sweep steps can be built along a front screen graph. Gathered data may be sorted, graphed and saved. The Octopus controls, sweeps, reads, records and graphs multiple instruments. Each instrument has an object program for interface and configuration. New instruments may be added with object programs utilizing general input and output vectors labeling the type of reading (voltage, current, wavelength, rotation speed, … ) . I have carefully commented with in the program explaining function and integration. I detailed each object that can be accessed through the LabView help box. New instruments may be added with starter templates. The program is has general applications for any lab environment. I have converted MathLab code into C for a sonar simulation program. This code returned properties to a user council program. Optics Skills: Laser Cavity design, alignment and coupling Laser power supplies and cooling systems Fiber Optics Optical train design, construction and automation Computerized data recording Spectral, spatial, polar, phase and quantum analysis of light 3D projection via intersection of guided IR beams.
Optical Background While working at SPAWAR (Space and Navel Warfare Systems) in San Diego, I have… Studied matrix equations for tapping optical lines through quantum diffusion. Conducted 3-D Noise analysis of IR cameras. Designed and tested a laser cavity for Cryogenic Erbium3+. Computer Automated a laboratory for testing of an optical MEMS. device.

I have a genuine interest in history. Explaining "how and when trains and models where constructed" would be a joy to research and convey. I had once worked downtown coxing people into pedicabs for two years, and have learned how to make tourist comfortable and find their common interests to the tour area.I have worked many years in optic laboratories aligning optic trains and would engage exhibit problems in a similar fashion. I have made presentations to fallowing members to explain my work and how it relates to theirs.
