Hi all,
The 99 Percent Votes is now live! http://the99percentvotes.com or http://the99vote.com for short. Submit your public policy ideas, discuss, vote, and identify like-minded candidates. Let's make the political process work bottom-up rather than top-down!
Please join and/or let me know what you think!
Thanks, Greg Orr
This describes the problem the government faces:

A helicoptor part costs the government $17k when a competitor can make it for $2.5k. From your previous threads here and here you seem to imagine this could potentially play a central role in government spending allocation, but often the public is not aware of the minutiae of spending decisions.
A voting process does not prevent the government from spending $17k on helicoptor parts unless every single legislative measure is voted on by the public, which contradicts the idea of elected representatives in a republic.
Perhaps more importantly, special interest groups would be unfairly represented in voting. See these two posts for detailed explanation:

Hey guys,
I want to bump this up to see if I can generate any interest. I've spent a lot of time developing this solution, and I think it can make a big difference. Crowdsource government! Get feedback on your policy solutions!
Interested in knowing what y'all think.
Thanks, Greg
Mandatory voting is actually already on there - http://the99percentvotes.com/idea/US4/
"All money out of politics" is not, though there are several campaign finance reform ideas. You could add that one.
Put it on the website, VQkag!
All money out of politics. mandatory voting for all.
You guys have entered lots of policy ideas here, but there's not an organized system to receive feedback, discuss, and popularize. Keep them on the table by putting them on The 99 Percent Votes. the99percentvotes.com or the99vote.com for short.
Bookmarked. Will check it out later tonight.
Did you ever get around to checking it out?
Yes, I did but I want to go back and look at it closer. The night I checked it was late so I didn't spend enough time on it. From the comments on here from people like Richard Gates and jart during the last two weeks, it sounds like you have something promising started.
Thanks. Let me know if you have any questions about it. It's something like liquidfeedback that has gotten popular in Germany.
