I decided to throw out this name on this forum to discuss why workers rights are needed- or stronger unions. Anette Prada was an employee like myself. She went to work like I did, loved her family as I do , however, only one of us managed to survive workplace bullying. Anette Prada killed herself this month after snapping. According to recent statistics, 35% of all workers are bullied at work. The feeling is the same, wake up on a Sunda with a queasy stomach, have fear of going to work, that you will be the target of the boss... With the recent economic downturn, people could not simply quit. Anette thought that she could make it to retirement, but she did not. I was accused of saying things that I did not say, had work heaped upon me and was a target of my boss. I fought back and got out. The sad thing is that many do not make it. If you see workplace bullying happening...step in. Now that I am on the outside, I will help who I can. We have no workers rights as far as healthy workplaces. It is not against the law to be harassed or bullied in the workplace. You have to go through hell, have your medical files reviewed if the defendant asks for it and spend a great deal of money, usually only to lose your job. Workplace bullies exist in every sector, believe it or not, one of the highest percentages of workplace bullying happens in education. Think about it, the peple who are supposed to be watching your kids...might be fighting for their own lives. Again, if you see it or hear of it and are strong enough...fight it and encourage workplace rights.
