We used this tactic in Tompkins Square Park during the homeless encampment&protest in 1990. Someone donates a bunch of good sized clothe amerikan flags and you use them to make tents. It puts cops in terrible dilemna - they are not supposed to allow tents, but these are not exactly tents... It makes for great media!!! Then if/when the cops come to clear you out, you have this tug of war with them which is even better media. Also the cops HATE to tear the flag, so it raises the conflict to the level where the truth is revealed.

Is it desecration to use the flag to shelter patriots who love this country and want to save it from greedy unpatriotic banks and corporations? I think Betsy Ross would approve.
