I love this country, and OWS is an inspiring example of why I love it so much. We are a capitalist nation, but there is no reason why greed and evil should be allowed to infect and sicken our society as symptoms of our economy. There are ways that we can improve our society and brighten our futures together, just as long as the 1% understand their obligation to the 99%. Every person, every lineage counting themselves among the 1%, at one point in history, belonged to the 99%. Their goal should be to bring more of their fellow 99%ers up with them.
That being said, we must never forget that, to the rest of the world, Americans are the 1%. 99% of the world doesn't have the wealth Americans do, the freedom Americans do, the food, the health, the safety Americans do. The same economic system that created the 1% in America exists in a much larger, global form. It, too, has created a 1%.
As we continue to make our case to our fellow Americans, let's not forget that our message is also being heard around the world, by people that consider us the 1%.
So, if you haven't already, now would be a good time to ask yourself, "If I were part of the 1%, what would I do?"
May God bless America and all of the kick ass people in it
It's good that you know this is an international effort.
Civil unrest is everywhere right now, Tunisia, Yemen, Bahrain, Egypt, Greece, Syria, Spain, Italy, Ireland, England, south America, all across the middle east...
The stories we hear from the media may differ in their reasons as to the cause, but it's all related.
The struggle for humanity is global, and Americans, Australians, Africans, Chinese, South Americans, Asians - everybody everywhere deserves to live freely.
The movement in America is very exciting and inspiring and it is beginning to occur in other 'developed' countries.
