We have the highest prison population per capita in the world. This disfranchisement disproportionately affects minorities and in most states prevents them from voting. Our prison problem is one of three things that we need to change if we are going to turn this country around.
1.) War 2.) Heath 3.) Justice
Wall Street has used the three things above against us, the war machine to move wealth to a select few, a lack of healthcare to keep us on the hook, and injustice to keep us down and quiet.
wall street did this.....how about government...get your facts straight
Wall street and the government are so interconnected that you cannot talk about one without talking about the other one. Wall street is responsible for the housing bubble, but so is the government for failing to enforce regulation.
The government is responsible for starting the war, but after that, with the war highly unpopular, war profiteers and lobbyists keep the war going.
Heath care currently benefits the insurance companies that are jacking up the rates left and right. Who benefits from that? Wall Street does. The government is once again responsible for regulation and now more directly telling everyone they have to buy private insurance. What happened to single payer? Oh yeah, it got in the way of Wall Street profits.
Prisons disenfranchise a huge segment of the minority vote, people who tend to vote democratic. If you think that Wall Street doesn't have a stake in one of America's boom industries - prisons, then you are retarded. Look into it sometime, fool, and you will find that 25% of the world's prisoners costs the American taxpayers a fortune - and where there is a fortune, the is a wall street barron sniffing around and manipulating the system to their advantage at our expense.
well said.
