How does everything work here? OWS is protesting against everything made by corporations and the capitalist system, but you guys are are using everything produced by corporations. Wake up! Ever wonder why corporations existed? For such an educated group of people that wants more free education all of you surely do not know much about how the world works.

Here is some advice from the 1%. Or should I say the majority of Americans that woke up this morning, went to work, and contributed to society. Quit your crying you babies. Your movement reeks of seIf-pity, selfish, and worthless people. Look at the pictures of yourselves. What a bunch of clowns. You do not like how the current banks work start your own. If you do not like the government run for office. But, please do not sit around and cry about everything as if the world gives a crap about your so-called plights of laziness.

If you are THE 99% ....THEN...... YOU CAN CHANGE THE WORLD ! ! ! ...four you is easy to determine the 1% to rethink things.....If you want those who do not meet the population to disappear is very easy......all 99% to withdraw money from their accounts and to keep cash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......I expect this event in Europe

I came to this site Friday night to offer my assistance as a non-profit organizer. I can do basic coding of web pages, accounting, and other functions.

Mainly I wanted to get some sanitation facilities out to Zucotto (sic) park.

In a matter of about 20 minutes I found over 15 contact listings, and left vmail and email on every one of them.

24 hours later, no response. They aren't even updating the site anymore.

Where did everyone, and the "tens of thousands" http://afgj.org/?p=1765#more-1765 of dollars go?

Well, the General Assembly never was in the US, they are operating out of a hotel room somewhere in Nicaragua, and the money has been deposited in a Central American bank.

How could the people do this to our citizens, how can members of our government support this?

They have to know, it only took me 20 minutes to find out, and they had days and hundreds of people on their staffs.

SIGH the protest is not to say technology is bad, or no no dont use phones and tvs and banks. These things can exist without corruption, greed, and lies. Its the perversion of these things that creates problems.

Do you all know what a corporation is, as opposed to an industry or company- those words do not mean the same thing...... Business and technology can exist without abuse. The 1% just dont want them to.

[-] 1 points by sudoname (1001) from Berkeley, CA 13 years ago

No, we're not protesting everything made by corporations, because obviously we can't avoid somehow indirectly benefitting from them. It's about corporate leadership in bed with politicians.

And the protest is not just college grads in NYC. Those of us with jobs elsewhere in the country cannot spend our time camping out. But without the camp out, there would be no greater movement, you would most likely not be aware of the idea of OWS, and we would not be talking.

[-] 1 points by teddyr (159) from Bronx, NY 13 years ago

So.. what are you guys protesting? Every corporation? That is a pretty big blanket statement. Do some research into why corporations are formed. You think people spend their lives making products and services for fun?

[-] 1 points by sudoname (1001) from Berkeley, CA 13 years ago

Not every corporation or corporations in general. Mostly the very top corporations whose CEOs have way too much control, send politicians on expensive vacations, along with lawmakers who regulate the industries they are invested in.

I do know how corporations are formed because I was in that business. They are key to our success as a country - at least the concept of collective ownership and pooling of resources. There are many on the forums with very anti corporate views, which I consider a bit sophomoric. Even your locally grown organic free range food probably needed to be transported, by a gasoline-powered truck, to the farmers market.

Exactly, if don't like the current banks, then start your own, and although I'm all in favor of taking down today's ineffective and inefficient Top 10% Management Group of Business & Government, there's only one way to do it – by fighting bankers as bankers yourselves. Consequently, I have posted the Strategic Legal Policies, Organizational Operating Structures, and Tactical Investment Procedures necessary to do this at:

Join

if you want to support a Presidential Candidate Committee at AmericansElect.org in support of the above bank-focused platform.

Oh, so your mad that someone else has more money than you. Let me guess. You went to college, make good grades, then got a job. But, then you watch people that created value for others become rich because they took a chance. You need to sit back and realize the US has the best government. You will always have corruption and back room deals, but with the constant changing of power it limits this. Quit your crying about everything not being fair and create something of value so I can use it.

[-] 1 points by karai2 (154) 13 years ago

If both party's are involved in the corruption how does the constant changing of power limit it?

[-] 1 points by teddyr (159) from Bronx, NY 13 years ago

Seems like the Tea Party has gotten their point across lately... remember the budget talks?

[-] 1 points by karai2 (154) 13 years ago

The question is, will they still be there when the next military endeavor rears it head, ready to suck us all dry. Remember the soviet union?

[-] 1 points by teddyr (159) from Bronx, NY 13 years ago

Heill yes they will be. Have you wrote your rep to push them to stop any wars?

[-] 1 points by karai2 (154) 13 years ago

As a matter of fact I have, not that I would need to. I live an extremely liberal community that has been against the wars from the start. Who knows, maybe we could work together to curb our outsized military and bring the troops home.

//Ever wonder why corporations existed?//

To create a legal fiction that effectively shields its owners from personal legal liabilities? To use financial power to influence the political system? To use the 14th Amendment to routinely to grant themselves constitutional "personhood?"

[-] 1 points by teddyr (159) from Bronx, NY 13 years ago

Corporations are not a legal fiction. They were created to limit liability so they would not lose everything except the contributed capital. They also work great to keep people from suing me and taking my home. They are only limited to my company.

[-] 1 points by AstraStarr (71) from New Paltz, NY 13 years ago

Corporations are legally BOUND to work in a way that is the most profitable to the share-holders and owners- EVEN if it means compromising the employees and or product.

LEGALLY BOUND TO HURT THEIR EMPLOYEES IN INTEREST OF THE RICH. And yes I know this is not an exaggeration because I have worked for an abusive corporation that was protected- while I wanted the CEO ( whom i have met ) and others made millions when they sold their stock. The only reason I know that is because they were legally required to post that information. They were on holiday while our hours were cut and supplies limited. THIS IS CORPORATE POLITICS AND LEGAL. and imo- wrong

[-] 1 points by teddyr (159) from Bronx, NY 13 years ago

This is called ownership. They own the business, and they have the right to what they wish. Best thing is that you can start your own and put in place your own style of management. Only a small filing fee...

[-] 1 points by unended (294) 13 years ago

There isn't a single substantive assertion in this rant. You have not explained why we as a society should tolerate a disproportionate amount of the gains in the economy over the last 30 years for which we have all worked being appropriated by a tiny fraction of us who have used the excess income afforded by their low taxes not to better society but to buy political influence. You would think somebody purporting to be educated could do better than to construct two paragraphs of ad hominem attacks.

[-] 1 points by reaganite (100) 13 years ago

The Constitution provides equal opportunity. It does not legislate fairness. You are invited to enter the real world of risk taking and adventure at any time. We tolerate such things because we know that no government in world history has succeeded at governing economic fairness while remaining productive. All degenerated into dictatorship, anarchy, slavery. We tolerate wealth for many reasons, not the least of which is because we know others can obtain it, and when they do, more opportunity is created.

[-] 1 points by unended (294) 13 years ago

In what delusional world do you live where CEO salary is based on "risk taking and adventure"? In what delusional world do you live in which a CEO's contribution to social wealth is 300 times that of somebody who works just as much? The system is rigged at the top, and we all know this full well. When somebody is stealing the fruits of your labor, you put a stop to it. It's as simple as that.

[-] 1 points by reaganite (100) 13 years ago

How do you think one becomes CEO??? The CEO works at the behest of the board of directors. If you have a problem with their decisions, go to a shareholders meeting and influence them. If you can convince enough of them that the company in which you have a stake is better served by lowering the CEO's salary, by all means you should do so. To ask the government to intervene is folly-the worst business judgement in the world resides in our nation's capital.

[-] 1 points by teddyr (159) from Bronx, NY 13 years ago

Since when did anyone get fairness? This is something everyone was taught as a child. Life is not fair. You will never have economic fairness (whatever that is) because people do as they wish with their money. Everyone has a right to screw up their own finances, family, health...

[-] 1 points by AstraStarr (71) from New Paltz, NY 13 years ago

sad but true

[-] 1 points by teddyr (159) from Bronx, NY 13 years ago

I work Sundays. Doctors work Sunday. Oh forgot the entire world must shut down during the weekend.

[-] 1 points by cylonbabyliam (73) 13 years ago

Do you think it's really that constructive to come onto a website for a movement and just call people clowns and worthless and selfish? Also, I don't understand how we could be selfish. We all want to work. I want to work very much and would love to contribute to society. It drives me insane that I cannot contribute to society, as I have been taught solely to care about the needs of others and serve the society in which I grew up. And yet, although I look constantly, there's nothing for me, or so I'm told. I'm three years out of college, I have plenty of job experience, but I'm constantly told that I don't and I'm constantly denied from even retail jobs. If I'm not qualified enough for office jobs, I'm over-qualified for retail jobs. So, this begs the question- why am I not ALLOWED to contribute to this society?

Also, you said that if I didn't like the government I should run for office. In what way could I, a twenty five year old man who lives in a one bedroom apartment with absolutely no money on which to run a campaign, successfully run for office?

Finally, corporations have existed in previous renditions of our current historical circumstance and awarded people much more fruitfully for their efforts. Why is it such a crime to ask that now?

[-] 1 points by teddyr (159) from Bronx, NY 13 years ago

Hey, don't give up. Remember Rudy did play for the Irish.

[-] 1 points by cylonbabyliam (73) 13 years ago

I'm sure that mocking me made you feel bigger. It's too bad, though, that this is your response when confronted with genuine questions that you cannot answer.

[-] 1 points by teddyr (159) from Bronx, NY 13 years ago

Here is your answer. If your area is so distraught then move and find opportunity elsewhere. You have to go where the work is. If you want to stay close to home then walk outside, and look around. You ARE allowed to contribute to society. Go ask people if they have any work they need done. Try it, you will be surprised. Ask yourself, how can I improve this place? If you want to run for office you can. If you get a following the money will follow. But, you have to demonstrate to people to believe in you.

[-] 1 points by cylonbabyliam (73) 13 years ago

How ironic. I did actually move somewhere else to find work with a lower unemployment rate, specifically because I believed that I could find work there. I have asked many people if they need work done, constantly- in my last community and this one. People are even turning my girlfriend and I down for volunteer positions and political campaigns. Maybe I can run for office, but I'm pretty sure that without a political machine or a little bit of cash to back me up, I'll just be a firestarter on TV for five minutes and really, what difference would that actually make in contributing to my society?

I agree that people need to motivate themselves and go out into the world to look for their own way, but after a certain point, one has to concede that there is something else at work to hold him back. If it's this ridiculously hard for me to get a part time job, much less a full time job, I have to question my economic surroundings.

[-] 1 points by teddyr (159) from Bronx, NY 13 years ago

Don't give up. I was once in your shoes. In my small college apartment I would post each and every rejection letter. I had over a 100 of them. To make ends meet i did small jobs, repaired cars, whatever, but I did it.

[-] 1 points by cylonbabyliam (73) 13 years ago

I actually do appreciate the encouragement. I have and will always do small and odd jobs to fill in the place where there should be a part time or full time job, but I want you to understand that. Much of our youth will be spent doing close to nothing with our lives but odd jobs, instead of fulfilling our dreams by pursuing legitimate careers.

[-] 1 points by bleedingsoul (134) from Youngstown, OH 13 years ago

Ummm...it's a Sunday. Not too many career jobs work on Sundays. Must be some low-paying retail job provided by these so called "Job Creators."

Talk to me when the Great-Depression part II ensues and super-inflation makes food a luxury.

[-] 1 points by teddyr (159) from Bronx, NY 13 years ago

Fortunately our generation will not have to experience what our great-great grand parents did in the Great Depression. Our lifestyles are so much better than theirs it is no comparison. Food is commodity by the way.

[-] 1 points by FUCKTHENWO (280) from RIVERDALE, MD 13 years ago

good point about the commodity, meant to type luxury actually. also, how do we have it better than they did in 29? huge income disparity, the threat of a new world war, super-inflation on its way....

[-] 1 points by teddyr (159) from Bronx, NY 13 years ago

How do we have it better? Do you have any grandparents that are alive and grew up during those times? If so ask them. My great grandmother had to work a full day at the market in exchange for potato sacks to make clothes for my grandfather. Now we have such an abundance because of the market that you do not have that worry.

[-] 1 points by FUCKTHENWO (280) from RIVERDALE, MD 13 years ago

You're not taking into consideration that you have never seen a depression. The fed has been muffling any signs of the great depression part II since 08, but it's coming and no one can deny it anymore. We have such an abundance? Because of the market? You dont have to worry?

Do you know anything about the current economic situation?

[-] 1 points by teddyr (159) from Bronx, NY 13 years ago

Oh, I am fully aware of the economic situation. But, elections have consequences, and since the elections of Obama and the democratic congress in 2008 their damage is still working their way through the system. Have you wrote to your reps and demanded to stop all of this nonsense? I have.

[-] 1 points by FUCKTHENWO (280) from RIVERDALE, MD 13 years ago

Or when you get fired from your lovely job and can't find a new one...
