This article illustrates why if you own an iPhone why you should be ashamed of yourself. Rule #1 you should not be allowed to be a member of OWS if you are unwilling to get rid of your iPhone. I think we should use the People's Voice to yell "Shame" the next time we see someone at a rally, protest, or occupy camp wielding a iPhone.
Here is the shortened URL. It's too big for the forum. http://tinyurl.com/7fhl3jz
I cannot afford an iPhone, wish I had one. Who would decide who would be allowed to be an OWS Member?
"Chinese workers that make those products are threatening mass suicide for the horrid working conditions at Foxconn. 300 employees who worked making the Xbox 360 stood at the edge of the factory building, about to jump.."
We need to be more practical, focus on local community organizing. I am a Supporter not a Member anyways. @Peta_de_Aztlan
I was being a bit tongue in cheek about the not being able to use an iPhone. But I find it ironic that one of the tools we use and a lot of the OWSers use is the iPhone. And yet the article talks about the conditions of Foxconn. I have been to Shenzen and have seen some of these factories. It's just funny we do solidarity rally's with everyone, but one of the groups (Chinese Factory Worker) we ignore. I guess nobody wants to admit the ugly Truth. People need their Apple iPhones and iPads, and Microsoft Xboxes.

I was reading the other thread about the Apple CEOs compensation package and based on the general agreement that his package was "reasonable" it is clear that OWS Apple Users don't really have an issue with the labor conditions in China for their products.

I guess I'm not a good American... and an even worse consumer. I don't have any smartphones, I just have the dumbest kind you can think of... you know, the Neolithic kind that you have to plug into a wall???
What happened? One day I shopped til I dropped... and after that, I decide to drop shopping. :)
Nobody should miss George Carlin's hysterical monologue on our obsession with "STUFF"...
In spite of what corporate advertising tries to drill into our brains, THINGS do not make PEOPLE happy. There's tremendous freedom in coming to that realization.
