It's a tragedy that soldiers continually fall for the lies their governments spoon feed them from birth. Soldiers hold the power for peace in their hands but don't realize it.

Not a weapon, but raising their hand, palm out, saying stop! Refusing to cooperate with that tiny group of angry and violent men who in their quest for wealth and power rob the earth of it's security. Will they ever learn?

Disobedience is the key to solving so many of humanity's problems.

Yes. Cooperation with tyranny is the lifeblood that sustains it. When enough people put this simple fact into action, they can topple the most oppressive regime in hours.

And all on their lonesome too.

If the children of the wealthy were the first to go, we would never go to war.

[-] 1 points by jrhirsch (4714) from Sun City, CA 12 years ago

Yes, those who lust for war should sacrifice their own children.

You realize that it is optional currently (and has been since 1973) to join to the military or not.

No one is forcing anyone else to join the military. Everyone in the military today is there completely of thier own free-will.

The poor in the military are just as bad as the rich in the military.

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8342) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

Yes it's optional like work, which is optional for the wealthy, not so much for the poor, we have had an economic draft for a couple of decades now and it is reflected in where the soldiers come from.

Bring back the draft and end the useless wars.

Noone is forcing anyone to join the military involuntarily. The poor, just like the rich, decide on thier own whether or not to join the military.

It is not against the law to Not join the military.

So what's your point exactly? I do disagree with you i believe many join the military because it's the only job they can find, but ether way my point is that because those that make the decision to go to war never have to worry about their children being called upon to serve and die they make the decision too quickly. The numbers bear this out the people in the military are increasingly from economically tougher conditions.

Employment is not is not an entitlement. Anyone who joins the military is doing 1000% voluntarily.

If nobody joined the military then there wouldnt be anyone to a fight a war.

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8342) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

I am certainly not calling employment an entitlement, I am calling it a requirement for the 99%, it's an option for the wealthy, and often the military is the only path available for many working class kids, this is a draft of the most insidious and evil sort.

Simple living is always an alternative to traditional employment.

The rich will die when the poor stop feeding them.

but if people have 10 times as much money as others;

doesn't that make them the boss ?

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8342) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

even 5 dollars is enough to boss the barista

Power is derived from intelligence, not money.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

If that were true?

Only cutting edge scientist would be billionaires.

It certainly wouldn't be some back riding bum on Wallstreet.

So why the discrepancy?

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 11 years ago

no

power is generated by the sun through a simple fusion system

we are the benefactors

[-] 0 points by HCabret (-327) 11 years ago

Power in political science has nothing to do with the sun.

It is a tragedy that so many people continue to voluntarily choose to join the military.

Discourse on Voluntary Servitude

http://occupywallst.org/forum/free-democracy-amendment/#comment-902070

A people enslaves itself, cuts its own throat, when, having a choice between being vassals and being free men, it deserts its liberties and takes on the yoke, gives consent to its own misery, or, rather, apparently welcomes it.

[-] 0 points by HCabret (-327) 11 years ago

In the end Voluntary servitude is Voluntary. No one should dictate details of life to anyone else. I don't care if people Voluntarily join the military, I just want it be known that ALL of those people are only making the world worse for themselves and others.

Why is it a tragedy? You may not agree with them if someone feels pride in serving their country in this way I don’t see a problem. I’m a veteran, a draftee actually; and my son is a veteran who served during desert storm. I am proud I served and glad my son did the same. There is no dishonor in serving your country.

Besides, most people join the military for training and skills that can be used after they get out of the army. A lot of people, I’d say the majority, see the military as a way toward a better life. For every foot soldier, carrying a rifle there’s probably fifty others in support rolls. I really is a way for a lot of poor kids to get a start in life.

I agree wars are fought by the poor. It’s probably always been that way. I don’t see it changing.

Because murder is ALWAYS wrong. If to show pride in your home you must murder, then count me out. I show how prions I am of my home in many other ways that don't involve killing another human being.

As long as the poor visit war memorials instead of free public libraries, it WILL continue.
