I do not understand the recent obsession with a man that has made his living portraying a spoiled frat party boy. I have never found this man to be witty or intelligent.

[-] 1 points by OccupyNews (1220) 12 years ago

I think he is intelligent. But, he's also a sell out.

[-] 2 points by FawkesNews (1290) 12 years ago

Does Adam Carolla actually think he is genetically better than me? Or, is he part of a group that thinks they are?

[-] 1 points by OccupyNews (1220) 12 years ago

Carolla is a part of group that no longer has any need for genetics. "Genes, you bore me". Carolla regularly taunts his own genes, he's even been known to call them out whenever they attempt to see the other side of things, allegedly.

His monologue appeared to have an element of profiteering to it. Pilfering his comic material by mocking his own disenfranchised fellow Americans, may later prove an error, should he truly believe himself to be "better". On the other hand, if the economy improves and Mr.Carolla is correct in his assessments, his comedic diatribe may live forever. Though I may drive you to ennui, the venue we meet, may itself be a contributor.

It's as if bankers never denied fair mortgage loans to minorities in favor of the balloon mortgages. When you think about it, why are there different mortgage rates in the first place?

The person most able to pay gets the lowest mortgage interest rate, and the person on the tightest budget gets the highest mortgage interest rate.

How about everybody just get the same low rate and see what happens?

[-] 1 points by FawkesNews (1290) 12 years ago

Mr. Carolla and many bankers, may enjoy the prosperity of preying upon their unwary neighbors, but it is a risky means to assure prosperity for any possible future. Same interest for all? Tougher loan requirements?

[-] 1 points by OccupyNews (1220) 12 years ago

Same interest rate for all, the difference being those who are wealthier can borrow more than those who are less wealthy, it's really that simple, it really is.

Funny how the label socialist is considered a bad word in our country by the republican party, yet they have no qualms making some pay 10% interest on a home mortgage while the more affluent pay 4% interest.

But if everyone paid 4%, that would somehow be labeled socialism by the Republican party.

[-] 1 points by FawkesNews (1290) 12 years ago

Rewarding predatory lending institutions with bailouts is socialism. Allowing the banks to keep that money out of circulation is more like Fascism. Interest rates and loan availability can help but the damage done to the country will take decades to repair.

[-] 0 points by justhefacts (1275) 12 years ago

Oh please. If Banks say that one group can borrow more than another-they are discriminating. Especially if those that can't borrow more are minorities! And if those evil bankers do that, then they are also limiting where those people can live because the "poor people" will all live in one place and all the "rich" will live somewhere else because they can afford more expensive houses. Damned if they did, damned if they didn't.

[-] 1 points by OccupyNews (1220) 12 years ago

so instead, a rich person can borrow 50,000 dollars at 4%, and a less wealthy person can borrow that same 50,000 dollars at 10%.

Sure, that's fair.

[-] 0 points by justhefacts (1275) 12 years ago

Either way-it's not "fair" to someone. That you want it to be unfair to the bank shows your focus isn't FAIRNESS at all-it's what YOU think is fair to the clients-what's fair to the lender (who uses the money of it's customers and investors to create loans) doesn't matter.

Same interest rates-but differing amounts-not fair to one of the clients. Same amounts, same interest rate-not fair to demand from a bank when you've proven to be a financial risk in your past. Same amounts, different interest rates unfair.

There IS no fair.

[-] 1 points by OccupyNews (1220) 12 years ago

Your premise that everybody should be able to borrow the same amount of money irrespective of income or assets in my opinion is more suspect than charging "people on a budget" a far higher interest rate than someone who has a higher income.

What's the point of the higher interest rate charge? Is this a gamble, a bet? The bank is charging more interest rate on too large of a loan because the person is more of a risk?

So banks are in the gambling business now? So banks want the loanee to fail? Is that why our banks exist?

Additionally, banks could easily put incentive markers in exchange for giving out a lower interest rate. If the person with allegedly poorer credit wants the lower interest rate, they can be incentivized by having them save a certain amount of money annually.

The concept would be, instead of giving the poor credit risk a 10% interest rate, give them the 4% rate but they have to save a thousand dollars a year. If they can't save the thousand dollars a year, then they could not afford the 10% interest rate either.

Except that in my scenario, if they can save the grand, the homeowner has saved money and gets a low interest rate for doing so. Why is it always frickin contest?

I bet you can't make the payment so I'm going to charge you 10%. That's just so ridiculous a concept I'm amazed people defend it.

[-] 0 points by bereal (235) 12 years ago

Good credit=low risk, poor credit=high risk, bad credit should=no loan! Would you loan money to someone you know has a habit of stiffing people?

[-] 2 points by OccupyNews (1220) 12 years ago

Good credit = higher loan amount Bad Credit = lower loan amount.

[-] 0 points by bereal (235) 12 years ago

"Good credit = higher loan amount Bad Credit = lower loan amount."

Yes! Had Fannie and Freddie stuck to that we wouldn't have a housing crisis now.

[-] 1 points by ithink (761) from York, PA 12 years ago

why would the powers that be stick to anything that does not make them money? They won't. Ethics and morality is not on the balance sheet. This is not your father's America.

[-] 1 points by OccupyNews (1220) 12 years ago

The problem is why talk about "them" and their "power". Lets talk about what makes sense and demand things that make sense be incorporated into our society irrespective of what "they" want.

[-] 2 points by ithink (761) from York, PA 12 years ago

Yes, I agree.

[-] 1 points by OccupyNews (1220) 12 years ago

cool.

[-] 0 points by bereal (235) 12 years ago

I wonder who is more corrupt, Fanny, Freddy or the regulators? Barney Frank, Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd, of the Senate Banking Committee should both be in jail along with the CEOs of Fannie and Freddie.

Great rant Adam Carolla.

We're the ass douches generation.

Guess who's going to inherit this nation when you're at the old people home.

The ass douche generation.

[-] 3 points by ronimacarroni (1089) 12 years ago

Btw I find it amusing that he claims that we screwed up this society.

Whatever helps you sleep at night buddy.

[-] 1 points by OccupyNews (1220) 12 years ago

Carolla's biggest faus pax was taking a personal observation that might actually fit a minority of the people in the movement and trying to label the whole movement the same way.

[-] 2 points by nikilister (109) 12 years ago

Anyone who talks about chicks with big boobs and then says something about the Bible in the end is totally screwed up. He seems to have come from a schizophrenic set of parents who never realized the shit they were feeding him.

Last point,

anyone listening to his comments can immediately detect his self proposed attachment to the 1% as a form of opportunist loyalty for future self promotion as he feels the occupy movement is temporary and gone by next year!

[-] 1 points by forOWS (161) 12 years ago

Carolla's an idiot.

[-] 1 points by OccupyNews (1220) 12 years ago

If you see Carolla, put a penny by his feet. Don't throw it at him, place it gently on the ground by his feet.

LOL, painfully accurate. :)

[-] 1 points by OccupyNews (1220) 12 years ago

Lets not confuse Carolla being partially accurate while missing other bullseyes at the same time.

[-] -1 points by Censored (138) 12 years ago

I dunno, sounds to me like he nailed it, just like Stephen Colbert.

[-] 1 points by OccupyNews (1220) 12 years ago

sure, Carolla nailed one nail out of 10.

[-] -2 points by ronjj (-241) 12 years ago

Kinda hurts when someone tells it like it is - doesn't it??

[-] 1 points by OccupyNews (1220) 12 years ago

Kind of sad that you couldn't be bothered to read two or three small paragraphs of analysis about what Carolla f'd up on that was just under the youtube video. But then that would have required actually reading comprehension.
