This content is user submitted and not an official statement

In your practice of a Democratic Society within the confines of "Liberty Park" you have accomplished some rather important things, simply by doing what you believe....

1. You have rendered the American MSM irrelevant. Congratulations! The New York Times look like Idiots "the most liberal paper in America"...hahaha serious congratulations. the world is watching. and the derogatory comments: Hippies? Socialists? Communists? Etc.

Why don't you just tell them you are looking for the democracy you were promised?

In doing so you will fire up all the souls of America and you will rattle the asses that are in power. Every one of them. Obama included.

2. You have called into question the actions of a police force in one of the largest cities of the world. Congratulations, you got the point......NYC is no longer an American City. You have never raised the issue of "who the hell needs a permit to protest". Show me where in the Constitution this is stated.

3. You have called into question the actions and practices of Wall Street. Rightfully so. In another time they would be hung in the space you intend to occupy........but you haven't yet occupied this space......a permitting problem no doubt... Legally Challenge it. And before you do: the point is about legislation on the bankers and the street.......Is the Glass Steagall act really what you want?

4. as a movement you have remained MOSTLY non-political. I would advise you remain so. If not you will be fragmented and co-opted by the very system you want to end.

you need to be more Radical. The reference to hippies should tell you that. It is derogatory because they are telling you you don't have your own ideas.

I know better. You do.....just find your own form for this revolution back to democracy. Then history can call you the children of the hippies.....and i would be honored.

But you have to find your own form. Emulation is not going to work.

BTW: you may have missed a point: Liberty Park is a negotiation between a political entity and a major corporation.........one which is threatening an eviction notice....Now how screwed up is that?

A public space negotiated for real estate? (half a million sq. ft. if i'm not mistaken). In a Democratic place? I would suggest these developers stand down.

Regards, Someone Wishing You Success In this American Revolution!

Keep Practicing Democracy....You're All Beautiful!

Next: You need to Render ALL the Politicians IRRELEVANT.

IRRELEVANT. I've built a Facebook page based on that very premise. Line up the Republicans! Line up the Democrats! And take them all to the Unemployment Line.

Just let me know when. I'll stand there with you. These corrupt bastards need to have their feet to the fire. OWS hasn't yet been able to do this..... I'm waiting. They are the real problem in America. Left and Right.

Oh, it's gonna happen. No food. No jobs. No home. No healthcare. Pretty soon people will have NO other recourse but to take to the streets... and they'll head straight for Washington D.C.

why not start with Bloomberg and his news network It's right in your face.

[-] 1 points by patriot4change (818) 13 years ago

Don't really follow the Bloomberg. What do you mean?

[-] 1 points by anon123 (23) 13 years ago

.....MSM is owned by pols and corps in most places in America. free media? honest news? How honest have they been about OWS? I think that should answer your question clearly.

What would Bloomberg's excuse be for ignoring the protesters? A conflict of interest? Bet it is.

Oh. OK. I get it. I could sit and watch the news 18 hours a day and those idiots would talk about the same 3 or 4 topics nonstop. And, as you stated, those 3 or 4 topics are DICTATED to them by the fascist politburo.

The most crushing victory the old can have over the young is to convince another generation that the only way to effect change in the system is to participate in it. The system is a putrid bog of corruption, and it is hoped that once we have entered it we will become as hopelessly mired and stuck in the fetid rot as the predatory ancients that lured us here. We must not allow ourselves to enter this bog and become mummified under the peat of tradition; we must learn to walk more lightly. We must not pass THROUGH the system: we must pass OVER it.

I totally agree with what the OP said about staying non-politcal. The MSM is trying everything they can tag the protesters as leftist hippies in the hopes of keeping the protests small and disgusted Americans divided. Make it known that democrats, republicans, progressives, tea partiers are all welcome. These protests are for the bottom 99% (IE all of us), they're not funded by people like Soros or the Koch brothers. Don't give the media any reason to belittle your actions, any violence and the coverage will automatically twisted like all WTO/G8 protests.

And be wary of agent provocateurs, police from around the world have been caught disguised as black bloc protesters and inciting violence which they use as an excuse to attack protesters. As these protests grow, it's bound to happen. If you see anyone destroying property or violence, don't be afraid to follow and film them.

Stay peaceful and most of all stay safe.

thank you for putting in the time. Unfortunately I am thousands of miles away in MT. But be assured I am constantly trying to debate on this forum, as are hundreds of others from around the world who just can't make it there. Please let those in NY know that we are here, and we are proud, and that we too are working toward a solution to the questions offered by your general assemblies, and I hope that we will get a chance to be heard there.

we all stand as one :)....that is the point of this afterall thanks

good point. It is important to recognize progress in order to not get discouraged as those who would criticize and misunderstand become enlightened by your unfailing devotion to your cause. Thank you and RESPECT to all those on the ground in N.Y. and around the world
