The Wall Street Occupation has grown. It has inspired many other occupations around the country and around the world. The whole world is watching, and most are supporting. It is in the best interest of 99 percent of us to support a more equitable distribution of wealth and power. The Occupation continues to spread awareness and empower people. Yet the elites are continuing to conduct business as usual. A General Strike can change that. A General Strike shows that workers, united, are powerful, and capable of brining business as usual to a halt and effecting change. A General Strike is the next step to achieving economic justice, liberty and democracy for all.

That is one of the main points of the protests, so that people around the world realize that they may be in the same situation. The economy is like a chain, if it breaks at the bottom (the workers stop working), the top starts dangling (the elite).

I am unfamiliar with how a General Strike is coordinated. Do you know how? I do not ever remember the entire country going on strike at the same time (and I'm 57), but I would find that absolutely fascinating to watch.

Be aware, however, that certain industries (like railroads for example) have been rendered illegal to strike and could be forced to work even if they tried to go out. I don't know exactly how that would be enforced (whether by national guard at gunpoint or replacement of striking workers by scabs, idk).

And what exactly would a strike do? Piss off the common man who will see the rich as saviors from your rabble. The truly rich can weather any strike for as long as it takes. the poor will suffer.
