I just want to show my support for the movement. We all admire Abraham Lincoln for his humanitarian efforts in support of freedom and the equality for man. I came across an excerpt of a letter he wrote in 1864 in which he expressed such profound insight to our country's future. I am sharing this with you all..."I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country...corporations have been entroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed." This was written 147 yrs ago. I'm glad we are taking a stand NOW.
This country was founded by rich white slave owners who didn't want to pay taxes.
It wasn't foresight at all.
It's evidence of the then existing corruption.
THANK YOU for posting that excellent quotation.
Lincoln definitely had foresight, just like Jefferson, who wanted to "CRUSH" - yes, that is the precise word that this gifted writer used - the power of the "moneyed corporations" that he saw - over 200 years ago! - as a great threat to our system of government.
