What does this have to do with Occupy Wall Street? Occupy Wall Street supporters consist of Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, Independents, etc. We all want money out of politics. If you wanna do the tit-for-tat partisan bickering thing, there are a plenty of other places to go on the Internet to do that. And hey, I may or may not agree with you on this if you took it to another site. This just isn't the place.
hahaha! No republican or libertarian would have anything to do with this movement unless it was in an effort to convert your thinking lol!. Please I am one of them lol!
Again, we all want money out of politics, and that's fundamentally what Occupy Wall Street is all about. It's not partisan. No matter what party you may belong to, I think focusing on the things we can all agree on in hopes of reaching even a little consensus about getting money out of politics is less delusional than thinking anything better is gonna come out of us just keeping at each other's throats.
exactly. money will just be replaced with something else.
I keep hearing that OWS is all about getting money out of politics, and then I see open alignment with organized labor, which POURS money into politics. I have yet to have anyone explain to me how the movement can keep any shred of credibility when it continues to speak out of both sides of it's mouth like that.
good point
Did it ever occur to you that unions may want to get money out too? They play the game the same way the corporations do, but they don't kill miners and oil well workers. Anyone with any sense of sanity wants all money out - except personal money - with some sort of cap - maybe $1000. How about limiting contributions to ONLY canditate that YOU can vote for?
If that is what they want, they are free to call for it and make it part of their policy. But I don't think it's what they want. They like the political clout they get with their donations. And they have even figured out a way to use money from people who don't believe in the political causes they are being force to contribute to. Hard to believe they are eager to give that up.
My point is, there is a level of hypocrisy in OWS if they claim to want to get money out of politics while cozying up to organizations that buy politicians by the thousands. Time to practice what they preach. Are they saying the same thing to their union friends that they are saying to their corporate enemies, or is there a double standard?
WOW- perfect question! Not only does OWS want ALL money out including unions, most of the proposed amendments ( if not all ) that are in the pipeline DO NOT EXCLUDE UNIONS. But my WG - Restore Democracy stands for this too.
money out of politics solves nothing. There are a multitude of ways favors & influence can take part. the way to solve the problem is to vote the bums out.
out is not good enough.
For example - arresting a drug king pin - and getting him "out" -
will only install another.
By getting the money out, the MAGNET attracting the bums will dissapate .
ah yes - and then only the truly virtuous ones will all flock to politics hahaha!
yaaah then we can have other bums serving themselves and their friends!
keep voting them out turnover is good. or run yourself, promote term limits etc.
Organized labor was born of Direct Action so they are a natural ally. Beyond that - it doesn't make sense. Only in so far as you can make sense of anarcho-communism.

you will never get money out of politics. even if you did - there will always be a form of doing favors etc. why dont you scare your rep that you will throw them out of office? that is the way & that is how the system was set up. this OWS is just a communist movement trying to collapse the whole thing. just look at the imagery used on this site hahaha! It's totally communist
Actually, it's anarcho-communist. And throw in some anarcho-syndicalists . It's a very inclusive movement.
