I think it might be tactically and symbolically interesting for some— certainly not all, but some— to come to Wall Street in business attire. Tactically, I think it will frustrate security; permitting not only a truer anonymity, but perhaps some sublime accidents as well (accidental permissions, as well as real bankers maced or barred from entry). I will be there in a week, dressed essentially for a job interview.
The 'un-official' uniform of the movement in the form of any business jacket, shirt, ties or bow ties (www.beautiesltd.com) and scarves for women would be great. It would emphasize the subtext message that 'they' are 'us' perhaps not now but in the not too distant future!
FYI: There's many people there, myself included, that essentially are there between job interviews. After 5 PM, young people come from the surrounding neighborhoods from work. For a couple hours there more suits than "hippies." Lots of suits...lots of everything. It really is an unemployment march for the new millennium.
Sophie, yeah, perhaps I was unclear. That would be part of the meaning. We are there for a job interview; for participation in economic power.
This is definitely a good idea. The other advantage is that photos and videos of the crowd in the MSM will show that the movement is not just composed of "disgruntled hippies".
