Forum Post: A Rally Cry to Occupy! -For all Patriot, Citizens and Unheard People

A Rally Cry to Occupy

 We the people, in order to form a more perfect democracy, have gathered to protest the unjust and unfair regulations which been systematically leveled against the lower, middle, and working class Americans.  We seek nothing less than a fundamental reinterpretation of the political status-quo. Our elected officials no longer heed the voice of the average citizen, our deepest ethical values have been roundly ignored by those in power, and therefore we are left with no choice but to organize and voice or collective descent.  Those entrenched within the system will not willingly change, those who profit from the system will not willingly change, and those who fear the system will not willingly change.  They will actively fight against legitimate change to the political apparatus, and therefore our only resort is to peacefully assemble, until change is forced upon them.

 Because the American people now face the greatest economic inequality ever, because the voice of reasonable and rational compromise is no longer valued by our elected officials, and because fear and hatred now dominate our political dialogue - it is time to rise up, as one nation, with one voice, and let it be known that we are aware.  This is a rallying cry to unite as a country, to speak to each other in honest, open terms about the inequities that now cripple our great society, and to transcend the partisan bickering that has reduced our beloved democracy to a body incapable of just political action.  

 The American Renaissance begins today.  Let every freedom loving citizen join together, that we might issue in a new age of knowledge, tolerance, and of fearless political honesty.  We are the people, we are the power, we are the voice of the reasonable American, and we will decide our future.

 We condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the shameless corruption plaguing the hallways of Washington, and Statehouses nation-wide.  Corporate money, privatized interest groups, and lobbying powerhouses have written, revised and twisted American politics to reflect their own private agendas, with no regard for the health and welfare of the average citizen. Effective immediately, all financial lobbying of elected politicians must be outlawed, and Political Action Committees must immediately be forced to disclose their contributors, and their respective contributions.  Any elected official who receives any money, of any kind, must remove themselves from any vote pertaining to said donations, or sit in abstention while votes are cast, or be subject to reprimand, fines and removal from office. Private money must be purged from American Politics; reason, justice and the common good must be restored to American Politics.

 Any and all laws passed which grant corporations the same rights and privileges as private citizens must be immediately repealed.  Any and all laws that grant the wealthiest Americans more rights than those without means must be immediately repealed.  Any and all tax loopholes being exploited by corporations, or corporate owners, must be immediately closed, and broad tax code restructuring must be considered so that that wealthiest Americans might contribute a more equitable share of their income to the economy.  Any special privileges granted to PACs, which allow them to operate without accountability, or disclosure of resources, must be immediately revoked.  Private money begets private interests.  Private interests benefit only the wealthy few, and disregard the needs of the people.

 We do not seek to dismantle our country; indeed we seek only to strengthen our beloved democracy through open, honest, and fearless discussion of the inequalities we suffer daily. We seek nothing less than the complete removal of all corporate influence from politics, and we will not rest until our goal is achieved. We welcome all our patriotic brothers and sisters, regardless of age, race, sex, religion, or political affiliation, to Occupy wherever you are, physically or in your heart.  Your cause is our cause; your voice is our voice. We seek to change American politics for the better, and remind those in Washington that since corporations and the wealthiest 1% do not speak on our behalf, and since lawmakers have refused to listen to the wishes of the common American; We the poor, the hungry, the huddled masses, we the downtrodden, the forgotten and the disregarded- We, the 99%, must rise up, stand together and decry the injustices set upon us. We speak in one voice, united in spirit, indivisible, with liberty, and justice, for all.
