I don't think it's in the best interest of the movement to have an "official" spokesperson. Any person who believes that they understand the core ideology of OWS is free to express their opinion in any fashion they desire. If this Mike Malloy fellow represents OWS so well, he may do so independently.

One of the last things this movement needs right now is a spokesperson. If a messages rests on the shoulders of an individual it is much easier to corrupt and/or destroy. No one of us is as strong as all of us. I think I speak for everyone when I say speak for yourself.

You misunderstand me. We would be telling him our message and he would send it out to the airwaves. Goddamn, you people seem to shoot down every good idea that comes your way. Its like you all want to fail and not succeed at all.

You should choose your words more wisely. "official spokesman" sort of implies he would be representing the movement considering that's what an official spokesman does. If you want to make him a messenger then I think you actually have a great idea on your hands. The real problem is more about identity and whatnot. The reason why the concept Anonymous works is because messages carried by Anonymous aren't diluted by the carrier's face/name. I'm sure you've seen the corporate news outlets label the movement as a group of hippies, bored teenagers, and overall wastes of space. That's a perfect example of an attempt to tarnish the message of OWS by giving it some sort of face.
