When you see someone posting something generally out of character for them, check the username carefully before you get pissed off at them. So far we have Thrasymoque and Thrasymkay pretending to be Thrasymaque, Puff6269 trolling in the name of Puff6962, and apparently HitGiri with a capital I pretending to be HitGirl. Just a heads up.
Excellent observations: I didn't even notice the shady ID tactics. But I have noticed some of the others.
As you know, the critics of OWS have been trying to intimidate us with petty grade school psychological tricks. They often 'vote up' their own comments and 'vote down' any supporting OWS. Some are trying to divert the reader's attention with mindless filler. These are obvious strategies to prevent you from reading the ugly truth. Especially those comments which address the massive corporate tax loopholes and the obscene concentration of wealth. They don't want you to read any of them. They don't want you to know just how bad it really is.
From now on, when they post their diversionary crap, be sure to respond with something they DO NOT want others to read. As usual, you are welcome to borrow anything I post. Some of it I have borrowed myself. Like the following statistics:
Here is a list of the top ten companies that not only paid little or no taxes but got huge corporate welfare from we the people.
1) Exxon Mobil made $19 billion in profits in 2009. Exxon not only paid no federal income taxes, it actually received a $156 million rebate from the IRS, according to its SEC filings. Note: This claim was made by Forbes.com in April of '10'. Shortly after, they published a followup article which included a rebuttal by Exxon Mobil. Forbes.com did acknowledge a mistake based on incorrect line items filed by Exxon Mobil. http://www.forbes.com/sites/energysource/2010/04/07/exxon-says-it-does-pay-u-s-income-taxes
2) Bank of America received a $1.9 billion tax refund from the IRS last year, although it made $4.4 billion in profits and received a bailout from the Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department of nearly $1 trillion.
3) Over the past five years, while General Electric made $26 billion in profits in the United States, it received a $4.1 billion refund from the IRS.
4) Chevron received a $19 million refund from the IRS last year after it made $10 billion in profits in 2009.
5) Boeing, which received a $30 billion contract from the Pentagon to build 179 airborne tankers, got a $124 million refund from the IRS last year.
6) Valero Energy, the 25th largest company in America with $68 billion in sales last year received a $157 million tax refund check from the IRS and, over the past three years, it received a $134 million tax break from the oil and gas manufacturing tax deduction.
7) Goldman Sachs in 2008 only paid 1.1 percent of its income in taxes even though it earned a profit of $2.3 billion and received an almost $800 billion from the Federal Reserve and U.S. Treasury Department.
8) Citigroup last year made more than $4 billion in profits but paid no federal income taxes. It received a $2.5 trillion bailout from the Federal Reserve and U.S. Treasury.
9) ConocoPhillips, the fifth largest oil company in the United States, made $16 billion in profits from 2007 through 2009, but received $451 million in tax breaks through the oil and gas manufacturing deduction.
10) Over the past five years, Carnival Cruise Lines made more than $11 billion in profits, but its federal income tax rate during those years was just 1.1 percent.
The ugly truth. America's wealth is STILL being concentrated. When the rich get too rich, the poor get poorer. These latest figures prove it. AGAIN.
According to the Social Security Administration, 50 percent of U.S. workers made less than $26,364 in 2010. In addition, those making less than $200,000, or 99 percent of Americans (actually, more like 98%) saw their earnings fall by $4.5 billion collectively.
The sobering numbers were a far cry from what was going on for the richest one percent of Americans.
The incomes of the top one percent of the wage scale in the U.S. rose in 2010; and their collective wage earnings jumped by $120 billion.
In addition, those earning at least $1 million a year in wages, which is roughly 93,000 Americans, reported payroll income jumped 22 percent from 2009. Overall, the economy has shed 5.2 million jobs since the start of the Great Recession in 2007. It’s the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression in the 1930’s.
ModestCapitalist, I've actually cut and pasted several of your posts to which I say, "Thank you!" And to others who have posted equally salient info. much thanks is in order!
As for usernames here at OWS, why do you think my user name is so long? LoL, yet another diversionary tactic to PREVENT the very thing going on with some of the trolls...
They will never intimidate us. Never. There is only one way to shut us up.
Resolve the issues.
Chumps.
A long username actually makes it easier for a poser. It's harder for the readers to tell.

So far, there have been about 20 variations of Thrasymaque. I take it as a compliment. If the admins see someone posing, they usually ban them. If they don't, please notify jart. Iv'e messaged her a few times and she doesn't tolerate it at all.
Is there an e-mail address through which I can contact her, or should I just go through info@occupywallst.org? I ask because there is now an AssRod1993 on here, and though there hasn't been much vandalism thus far I don't know how big of a pain in the ass this could turn into. I have been quite open on here thus far (including giving out my real name at one point) and I want to nip this in the bud before my name gets tied to any of his crap.
You can send her a private message on this forum: http://occupywallst.org/users/jart Her email listed on Github is jtunney@lobstertech.com She hasn't been around lately. I think she's quite busy. She only pushed code once in the last 3 weeks.
I'm pretty sure the user posing with all these names is the same. I think he's the guy who used to spam the http://global-human-rights.us/home/ link last month. Jart crossed-check IPs about three weeks ago and at that time he had all the following usernames. This is a list taken straight from the result of a database call:
set([u'1Thrasymaque', u'AnonymousUScitizen', u'Hassan', u'JL2267', u'KahnII', u'Kisama', u'Koko883', u'MiKEYD', u'MikEYD', u'MikeYD', u'MikeyD', u'PerfectTaco', u'StopForeclosureFraud', u'Thrasymaque1', u'Thrasymaque2', u'Thrasymaque3', u'Thrasymaque4', u'Thrasymaquethegreat', u'Thrasymaqueythethird', u'Zivot', u'Zyzz', u'apple', u'austin2', u'demonstrator', u'freestyle', u'globalfreedom', u'guest', u'isthatthebestyoucando', u'meagain', u'misunderstood101', u'resistance0is0futile', u'resistance0is5futile', u'resistance1is1futile', u'resistance2is2futile', u'resistance35is5futile', u'resistance3is0futile', u'resistance3is5futile', u'resistance3is6futile', u'resistance56is5futile', u'resistance5is5futile', u'resistance7is5futile', u'resistance7is7futile', u'resistance8is5futile', u'resistance8is8futile', u'resistance9is4futile', u'resistance9is5futile', u'sirpoeticjusti', u'sirpoeticjustic', u'unwelcomedguest', u'youcannotsilanceme'])
I'm not 100% sure it's him, but I wouldn't be surprised. It might be nice if the moderators cross-checked the IPs again to see if it's him. However, I'm not sure there's much they can do. He's probably using a proxy server now. Jart banned his IP 3 weeks ago. As you can see, he just keeps getting banned then creates a new user.
