Form a new political party (XParty) where the elected officials act as brokers for their constituents.
By contractual agreement:
- XParty elected officials and staff will provide objective information about upcoming legislation to their constituents using online tools.
- Constituents may vote about the legislation online.
- The Elected official MUST vote based ONLY on the results of their constituent’s vote. In case of tie, the XParty official will flip a coin to determine vote.
XParty elected officials will have NO ATHORITY to make voting decisions. They are only an extension of their constituents.
This solution can be achieved within the framework of our existing democracy. We simply create the new party based on the idea that our elected political officials will act as brokers for their constituents.
Constituents would also be able to submit their own legislation through their elected official.
The XParty could quickly eliminate the tradition political parties. I mean, who would you want in office? A Democrat, A Republican or someone who voted based only on the constituent’s wants or needs.
Creating the XParty would eliminate the effect of lobbies and give governance back to the people.
Of course, the XParty is a stupid name. Someone should come up with a better name.
