I've written a short book on a proposal for a new constitution which I invite anyone interested to read (it's available for free download). My thought is that the corruption in the system, while not altogether foreseen by the framers, is inherent in the Constitution itself, and some significant changes may be needed. I'm also suggesting the time may have come for direct democracy. If interested, go to this URL: http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/97144

The Constitution was a brilliantly written document and gave us everything we needed to preserve our Republic and our sovereignty as Citizens. The Constitution did not fail us, we failed the Constitution. Not one in a thousand people really understands the Constitution and has read the writings of our forefathers who explained their intentions. The two simple changes that would restore our Republic would be the repeal of the 17th Amendment, and the elimination of the Federal Reserve. Repeal of the 17th Amendment would reinstate the balance of power between the States and the Federal Government, and the elimination of the Federal Reserve would return control of the money supply, debt, and inflation to the Congress and the American People. Banks would be relegated to their proper place.

I understand the discontent in the country. Many feel this is a result of capitalism and that our republic is to blame. They are partialy correct. Where they are wrong is assuming this is the natrual state or conclusion of that system. What it has been perverted to, my fellow Americans, is not the vision that was set forth for us.

Absolutely nothing wrong with our original organic Constitution. The problem is with our representatives that violate their oath to obey and protect that fabulous blueprint of checks and balances.

"suggesting the time may have come for direct democracy", instant fail. Democracies don't work. Hoping this movement makes some changes to our republic may be within reason. Expecting it to turn America into a democracy isn't.

The original constitution was written to give authority to the government by the vote of the governed. Their is a grand perverting and manipulation of that point among Political parties. The constitution remains a viable document. The 'leaders' of this country are the ones that need re- written, not the contract.

Answer one question, please... What good will a new constitution do in light of the fact that the government chooses to ignore the current one?

i like the current one. the problem is we've made up a bunch of bs to re-interpret it and most politicians only bring it up when it agrees with them.
