United America Party www.uaparty.org

Unlike a traditional political party, the United America Party was formed as a party that puts the common good above politics, corporate, and personal interests; a party focused on making informed decisions to solve the seemingly intractable problems of today while preserving the promise of tomorrow; one party that represents one America – a United America. We welcome Democrats, Republicans, and independents to join the United America Party.

This grassroots movement is quickly attracting members from all across the United States. We represent voters from all walks of life that are committed to finding comprehensive and common sense solutions to the problems facing our country through rational and informed decision-making.

If you find yourself in the political middle, on the left, or the right, but want to move the country forward through an efficient government that does not sacrifice long-term viability to achieve short term goals, then the United America Party needs you. We encourage citizen participation.

The United America Party is not just another ephemeral “third party”. Our mission is to build a viable, permanent system that promotes an incorruptible, common sense and information-oriented force that put the peoples’ interests first. The United America Party is that force. Join us!

Basic Principles of our Party

-An efficient government

-Ethical, but secular

-The government and the people must be willing to pay for those programs they deem important

-Governance, not at the expense of individual liberties, and with respect to the rights of a minority

-The public before politics, corporate, and personal interests

-A government that utilizes resources such that the environment and people are not exploited

-Short-term gain should not overshadow long-term viability

I'm an independent from Richmond - and this is exactly what we need! It's about time. The problem is that our elected official's are not standing up for us and we need to take a stand and tell them they need to listen to us. THEY REPRESENT US!!!!!!

Keep up the good work!

I'm from UC-Davis - and I could totally see a bunch of the other students getting behind this

This is a pretty tall order, no? The main question that has to be answered is how a third party can survive in America? Unless, you want to this to fail like the Green Party, this has to be a critical component.

I think its interesting that you are trying to get Republicans, Democrats, and Independents into this party all the while not pushing your own candidates.

I'm all in for the paying for programs that we use - that's my biggest problem with government

Third parties haven’t done so well in the past, except as spoilers in presidential elections. Theodore Roosevelt’s “Bull Moose” bid for the presidency in 1912 is considered the most serious third-party challenge—and he didn’t win.

BUT the idea is becoming popular once again! The majority of Americans believe the two parties don’t represent the American people and they want a third party, according to a new Gallup survey.

Gallup has asked since 2003 about preferences for a third party. There have been only two other times when a majority of Americans said they wanted one: 2007 and 2010. This time, however, is the first time that a majority of Republicans say they want a third party. Maybe it’s because the current field of GOP candidates is “unimpressive.” That’s the most frequently used word to describe the current GOP candidates, according to a Pew poll.

Tea Party supporters are likely to opt for a third party: 60% say they would like a third party. Given the strong, partisan views of Tea Party activists, I doubt that anyone we would consider a statesman would emerge from their ranks.

On a good note, it seems the classic definition of “statesman” which involves rising above partisan politics to serve a greater public good - is what this party stands for.

So, I'd say there is hope!

Sounds good like 99% of the people could possibly agree with.

I like this idea much better than standing around waiting for something to happen.

See I could stand by this, I feel like ultimately we have to do "common-sense" things and that if what we want is tooo far to any extreme its not going to happen.

Look at the Tea Party!

The principles sound good - do you have a mailing list? I want to see what evolves with the issues you are working on.

You should checkout Opposing Views (http://www.opposingviews.com/) when thinking about new issues - I find this website to be very informative and a place for good discussion

I'm a single mom and I can get behind this

I love all the great ideas coming in - especially ideas that make sense!!!

I too am an independent. Left is too wimpy, right is too tight. We need representatives that listen to the American people, and don't blow them off if the polls aren't saying what they want to hear. Keep those voices loud and clear. Represent.

We need people that are willing to educate the public too when they are wrong - that's extremely difficult

I'm interested in hearing more - nice website by the way

[-] 1 points by Venom280 (27) 13 years ago

Can this really work?

[-] 1 points by owstag (508) 13 years ago

I like your post, and love what you say, but the header "not left, not right... forward" is too similar to MSNBC's marketing slogan ("Lean Forward"). MSNBC is widely seen as a pop-political pseudo leftwing media outlet positioning itself - for purely traditional free market reasons - as a 'left wing' alternative to 'right wing' Fox in order make money; it's cynical.

In my opinion, both are to politics as the WWE is to wrestling.

[-] 1 points by UnitedAmericaParty (7) 13 years ago

I get that...is there another slogan we could use?

[-] 2 points by owstag (508) 13 years ago

Perhaps "It's not about right and left but right and wrong"?

[-] 1 points by Bingspeak (3) 13 years ago

GREAT!!!

[-] 1 points by MariePaulo (13) from Pinewood, SC 13 years ago

Do I get a vote because I like it!

[-] 1 points by owstag (508) 13 years ago

Meh - probably not much better; is a slogans really necessary? Don't they tend to simplify complex ideas?

[-] 2 points by UnitedAmericaParty (7) 13 years ago

Check out our website www.uaparty.org, we are more than just slogans :-)

[-] 1 points by owstag (508) 13 years ago

Will do - thanks!

How about "Don't look left or right, look ahead"?

Agree - too much fighting and not enough productive action in Congress. Let's do something!

Seems fake.

Also, I dont think this is a time to start recruiting people who are tired of the modern political landscape in America into an organization that focused on bargaining with the status quo. Just doesnt resonate with me. Sorry
