I have seen Hunger Stikes be very effective in India and other countries fighting government corruption. This form of protest however hasn't been really used here in the USA. I think it's time that Occupy change that. I feel that a symbolic 99 volunteers go on a Hunger Strike, with the goal of forcing our government to take measures to hold those responsible accountable, and end Corporate corruption that is killing the middle class.these 99 people would need to be healthy but also monitored by volunteer nurses/doctors (if possible, to ensure minimum safety). This form of protest I think would help the Government and the public realize the damage and Danger of Corporate America and let them see Occupy Wall Streets true resolve for change! What do you guys think?
I have a suspicion most of the 1% are sociopaths to some extent or another, especially on Wall Street. They'll probably just let us strike until we will starve. They'll only desire OWS to stop because having to clean up masses of skeletal corpses is distasteful and leaving them there is a massive hygiene risk.
LOL! So true.
I like how you call for volunteers but dont offer yourself up, thats the heart of this movement. You rabble dont beleive in anything.
If you have a specific goal a strike might work. I think a boycott would be more effective. Especially if there are enough people involved. Lets start with the big banks. Take your money out of the big bank and put it in the small bank in your neighborhood.
Here's another brilliant plan. What if they stopped complaining that people have more money than them and get jobs? Then the difference might not be so stark.
Hunger strikes don't work, and at this point even street protests are starting to wear thin and lose their efficacy. What you need to be doing is looking for the avenue that provides the greatest opportunity to affect policy, which as far as I'm concerned remains getting involved in Congressional primaries and pushing for candidates who will actually listen to you.
Bluelotus, start now, we'll catch up with you later. Thanks.
Only 99 people? That wouldn't send much of a message.

You hippies don't have the guts (pun intended) for a hunger strike. You guys are spoilt brats. Hunger strike requires a lot of discipline, which your rag tag group of whiners seriously lack.
