Forum Post: a great idea from a police officer who considers himself one of the 99% but has to do his job...

I had the best conversation with my friend who is a San Diego police officer. His idea: All protesters should wear this t-shirt. On the back: name blood type_ contact phone#__ On the front : "I am protesting peacefully. I will not resist arrest. But I will be back." He said this would be smart and effective. I agree. Pass it on if you like it. (This could be made easily and sold in the Occupy Store!!)

Free clue: police officers are NOT in the 1%. They earn a little more than teachers.

holy! police officers earn $740,000 a year??

sign me up!

[-] 1 points by owstag (508) 13 years ago

Lol... They might earn that much in one of Jupiter's years...

[-] 1 points by technoviking (484) 13 years ago

but you said they're not the 99%??

that means they must be earning 1% pay!

[corrected...]

[-] 1 points by owstag (508) 13 years ago

Lol - you are correct! I meant of course to write they aren't in the 1%; my bad.

Good catch...

I made one quick, it's "Made in America" so it's pricey, but they ship cheaply. Make sure you edit the text so it has YOUR blood type, contact name and contact number. Remember: Prankster may dial the number looking for fun.

Good idea

I like it! I think something like this will make the police feel a little safer so they won't lash out at the first person that picks their nose.

I made a decent shirt, and used some graphics.

I made it full print size. I left blank space with a white background, you should be able to use a magic marker on it.

I can put the design on sweaters or hoodies (but they are a bit more expensive) Let me know.

That's a pretty good idea. I think capitalism is just a variation of the regular trade that happens in a marketplace. Instead of trading two resources, you can trade money for a resource. But I think it's very out of hand and has been implemented in an unfair manner.

However, it does raise awareness. All the proceeds can go towards charity or to help the movement. Is there a site where I can see what is happening with the Occupy money?

Wow, you all are a little touchy. Its a good idea, we know what she was getting at. Lets not start infighting over words.

What is "Occupy Store"? when did we get a store? Who runs it? Who keeps track of the money? Why did we comercialize our protest?

[-] 1 points by david157ts (54) 13 years ago

"Why did we comercialize our protest?" because some people will try to capitalize/monetize anything & everything.

On ebay right now there are about 5000 occupy wallstreeet items for sale. Craigslist NYC has one (1). I'm not sure what that says, but it's a sharp contrast..

Half of us still support capitalism.

[-] 2 points by annie (132) from San Diego, CA 13 years ago

capitalism is the idea of free choice and competition. capitalism as it is now, unchecked and unregulated, creates what we have now...monolithic corporations that no one can compete with. but I do understand why this movement is not the time or place for people to make a buck....we can make our own with sharpees, for goodness sake!

[-] 1 points by badconduct (550) 13 years ago

True, but some capitalists are waiting for the occupy movement to succeed as well :) Pro-environment is a good example. There will always be rich and poor

[-] 1 points by annie (132) from San Diego, CA 13 years ago

an no one has a problem with rich. the rich were mighty rich they paid 50-60% in taxes.... 1930's-1980's

Sold? SOLD?!?! We are not bloodthirsty greedy capitalists. I believe you mean "This would be made easily and LIBERATED in the Occupy Store!!"

Please use more compassionate terminology instead spouting off capitalist drivel

who would donate the raw materials to make them and the labor? we dont have to make a profit, but you have to sell them for enough to cover the expenses of making them. get a clue.

[-] 1 points by annie (132) from San Diego, CA 13 years ago

aw jeez. yes, made, distributed etc....not for profit...I agree. old habits die hard but my intentions are all good. (a little kindness?) as far as the occupy store...on one forum somewhere I found a "what can you do" section that mentioned: attend a protest or meet-up, write letters, stage boycotts, send money, send clothes/food, make posters or buy stuff from the occupy store (money goes for supplies) and I wish I knew which website it was. I thought it was this one but I don't find it here.
