Forum Post: A Few Words About Non-Violence

Non-Violence is not just a strategy, it must be an end in itself. If the movement does not remain non-violent than all it will serve to do is start the whole tiresome cycle of human disfuction over again. When we seek a better, more just society, we must reflect that desire in the actions that we take to achieve those ends. This is a very hard thing to do when confronted with those willing to use violence to attain their own ends. It is in fact the ultimate test of our belief in truth and justice. Humanity has never achieved sustained non-violence before, but we are faced with no alternaive; either grow spiritually beyond these tactics or be doomed to repeat the self-distructive cycle over and over and over again. Nobody ever said any of this would be easy, but I believe it's possible. Fear, in all its forms, is the enemy.
