In my opinion, camping out in the cold, with confrontation with law enforcement, isn't the way to get wall st attention, you have to hit them in the pocket, possibly by picking each month (alphabetically) a big banking corp. and boycotting them, by pulling your finances out of them and putting them somewhere else, maybe a s&l or even in your mattress, then and only then, will these big bankers take notice, with their mouth wide open and their big ass cigars hanging from their bottom lip and actually begin to think about what they ought to be doing to help America.
But regulation and accountability won't happen until you hang the lobbyists
Excellent idea!.....pull all the nickel & dime accounts out; then the banks will pay me even MORE interest to keep my deposits! Of course, that doesn't include the cash I keep in safe deposit boxes to avoid paying taxes on...
I believe the only way to fight wall st is through regulation and accountability
all I'm trying to say, is the way to get wall st attention is to hit them where it hurts, through the almighty dollar
I have a son that doesn't believe in voting, does believe in revolution, I tried to explain to him that we have a revolution effect through our vote
the occupation is to rally the people,. all other activities like what you suggest are valid and should be pursued along side the occupations.
Buy Silver, Crash J P Morgan!
I agree in the rallies, but as you can see, people are starting to get hurt, its bad enough we've been involved with 2 senseless wars over the last 10 years and don't get me wrong I support our military, but do we want to create a war within our nation
We need to physically shut down the criminal greed emanating from Wall Street.
"There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious—makes you so sick at heart—that you can't take part. You can't even passively take part. And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all." -Mario Savio
There again, hit them where it hurts them, in their pockets, these fat cats are watching the protest on the news each night and laughing at it, they have the law on their side
I agree that the protest has to use multiple tactics, but the occupation aspect is still important. People have been angry for a long time, but the physical presence was what has been the galvanizing force in getting people to feel like they aren't alone. Isolation from each other has an insulating factor that dampens our voices. Deciding how to deal with weather without letting it shut the occupation down is critical to forward momentum. It demonstrates conviction and flies in the face of the belief that Americans are soft, lazy, and too self serving to sacrifice.
If anything, they owe us, we bailed them out and they laughed at us by giving huge bonuses to their execs.
defeat the number increasing money chargers by not playing with them
tell them that nothing is owed to them
I agree with peaceful protests, but with winter coming, I can't imagine this protest situation going on much longer, cities that are broke are increasing funds to law enforcement and only costing the tax payer even more in the long. I also think we can do the same thing with oil companies, that are gauging us at the pumps.
I think a little bit of everything is what we need. Every form of protest has it place. I think your idea would get some attention but in this day and age with our attention Spanish we need to continuously remind the banks we are here to stay.
